No, they're customer service is awesome. You can switch up the towers you use. I started on the Tmobile towers, thought about trying the verizon towers but idk. The ATT towers work about the same as Tmobile.

They still can - the government can as well - only way they can't is if you ditched cell phones all together. They can even turn on your cell phone's microphone while the phone appears to be completely powered down. They can also track your location (without your knowledge)- modify your phones baseband firmware - amongst other things.
