Ultra 4 vs Rock bouncer

Basically pretty much all are built with guys that have a shop in their back yard. For how much they break shit if they didn't do the work themselves they'd be screwed. I actually followed one around a Choccolocco Mountain last time i was there. It will definitely out do my Jeep with easy just crawling around. Its like having a buggy built for rock crawling but then you have the option to just hammer down.
Theres definately something to be said for home garage built.

I can somewhat understand Ultra4... I don't get Bouncing at all.

Honestly, I hate to even see the rigs on some of the trails they run. They chew massive ruts and destroy trails. IMO they embody everything people assume and hate about off-roaders.

Just my :twocents:

I'm not gonna lie, if I have my way in this world I will have one of each (not perhaps a full blown Ultra4, but the basic concept of what you can get along the lines of an EVO1-like setup).

I don't really see them as a comparison; two different animals. But to force a comparison, I think you can objectively look at what happened at KotH this year and catch the drift: Bobby's bouncer absolutely crushed the Backdoor Challenge time in a way I can't fathom an Ultra4 could do.... but on the other hand I couldn't fathom a bouncer making it 9 hours in the full format race events and finishing.

I will say that, other than when things go wrong, the bouncers aren't nearly as chaotic as it seems. Watch enough regular vids that aren't focused on the crashing and you'll see that it has its own finesse and predictable handling that to me reminds me of watching those crazy drift racers... looks like chaos, but really isn't.

There are a lot of big names in the bouncer world now. Guys making a living selling bouncers and chassis. I'm a little jealous. Lol.

Someday....

King of the hammers is the hardest off road race on the planet. A rock bouncer has never finished this race I don't believe. That should say it all.

I believe its also fair to say that a rock bouncer is built to climb a hill then easy to another then climb again. Where a Utlra4 buggy is meant to race for hours are a time.

My buddy says rock bouncers are just d-bags with big egos and no skill that just stab the skinny pedal and think they are Heros of the off road world. (I agree) Ultra 4 is real racing with drivers that have skill and don't just stab the skinny pedal.
