Tuffy vs BestTop - Underseat Security Drawer

I also have the tuffy. It is solid, and rolls smooth. I have the combo lock instead of the key. I don't use it often, but it's easy enough to open in the seat.
Also, I had to use a piece of rubber hose under the back for support since I didn't use the bolt, and I have no carpet.

I have a Tuffy drivers seat one. Love it. I lined the drawer with old computer mouse pads so it wont beat up what's inside. I cover the outside with a nasty towel or shop rag to better conceal it. I recommend it.

Here is a P229 with three 12 round .40 cal double stack mags for scale.

Mine is lined with high density stand up paddle board foam.

I have both the driver and pass. side Tuffy drawers, one thing I found odd was that the driver side drawer must be locked to stay closed, it has a spring that will push it open slightly if it is not locked and since it rolls so nice on the rails it pops all the way open. The passenger side though will close to a detent and stay closed without being locked, it also does not have the spring assist to open, you have to pull it to open.

As for why I bought the Tuffy, I have several Tuffy products and wanted one key to carry and Bestop didn't offer the same products. Plus I like the solid feel and larger drawers.

Thanks. Looking at the Tuffy. Not too long ago I had my car broken into and two handguns stolen (was in a back pack). Was at a dog park for about 30 minutes only and was planning on going to the range afterwards.

So now looking a Tuffy under the seat, center console, and rear cargo under the floor cubby hole Tuffy boxes for the new JK getting ready to purchase.

Never again!

Looking at the Key's alone I wouldn't feel secure with the shitty dimple lock key that Bestop offers that can easily be manipulated with a modified flat head screw driver and hammer to bump the lock... or just ram it in there and torque it until the pins break. Where as Tuffy has the 10pin tumbler lock, I feel that's a little more secure as it's 5pins on either side of the key and requires picking on both sides and takes longer / more of a hassle (I have an interesting hobby).

That is exactly why I was looking for a lock box. I haven't been broken into yet, not on this Jeep anyway. But I am starting to spend time in questionable areas and needing to secure things, besides my yet to be purchased firearm. My friends tend to leave their phones on my charger when we stop for a quick bite, and I don't like when they just leave it on the seat/cupholder. Sure I have tinted windows... but they won't stop anyone.

Tuffy made in Cortez, Colorado, USA.

Made in the USA... yet another reason to buy it.

I have the tuffy one and I had it keyed alike for my glove box and my center console...... I have been keeping a tennis ball under it to keep it from rattling.....

I also have the Tuffy under the driver seat. Purchased for size, security and ability to add other locking storage and remain on one key. :thumb:

I have had the Tuffy for 3 years now (first mod to the jeep). I don't use it for firearms since I live in Canada. But I keep my insurance papers in there and bear spray and knives when I go camping.

I also throw my wallet and phone in it when the doors are off.

I love it.

Not being sarcastic here but I can't imagine not leaving my house without my XD on me. I never go anywhere without it. How would I feel if my wife or daughter were hurt and I just stood there and watched? I hope Americans are never unable to have firearms but I have a feeling there are too many uneducated voters that just vote to get more hand outs that don't have a fucking clue about how to work hard and have pride in their life for what they accomplished. Stepping off my soapbox now, again nothing personal towards you or Canada

I have the drivers side slide/ tumble seat and from what I understand neither of these will work on this type on both passenger and drivers side, Is this true?
Not a big fan of the driver seat design, seems kind of a waste even slid up you still cant get in the back on that side.. If you cant use them with that type of seat, has anyone come up with a mod or workaround to be able too? What other options have you come up with that is easily accessible
Kimber isn't allowed on my company property, so I need a safe place for her.

Thanks

LOL!! Talk about old threads! What's really funny is that Bestop and Tuffy are now owned by the same parent company
