Transamerican Manufacturing Group Announces Acquisition of Poison Spyder Customs

I'm betting Larry staying was apart of the sale of the company and in a year he will retire and then the quality will go to crap and poison spyder will be the next smittybilt :-(

Wardell, I have been researching cages and I am ordering most of my parts from Eric Johnson with Northridge4x4. He suggested the Poison Spyder trail cage. When I mentioned the reports of noise / squeaking he recommend a "Cage Tie in Kit" they sell for about $75 which they have found has eliminated those problems. (I believe he said it was for around the windshield)

That's it? I'm surprised he didn't also recommend sleeving your axles.

do you think this has been in the works under the rug and might have been another reason why that guy left and made Crawler Concepts?

Who knows, I'm a little pissed off but I'm having my local 4x4 shop order me my last psc products before they take a quality drop

That's a good point, I had not considered that but it would make sense. I'm bummed this is now owned by TAP but on the bright side we still have EVO!

Based on this news / release, I may be ordering the cage and tie in kit sooner than later before there is any possible change in quality.

Hmmm, that's the first I've heard about a tie-in kit as a separate part. I don't see it on the PS or Northridge websites though. Also, from what I was hearing it was an updated design, not addons. The windshield tie-ins were specifically mentioned, but there are supposed to be other refinements to the design from the feedback they were getting to make it work better with both the hard top and soft top. My guess was they were going to change the upper streamer from a plate to two tube bars to give easier access to the freedom top latches.

I wish OR-Fab was still making their cage, since it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for...

Wardell, I did not hear that PS was updating their cage design, where did you hear that? I also wish OR-Fab was still making their cage, that is the cage I installed in my 08 JKUR...

So that's interesting news... lol I didn't see that coming. I'm pretty the quality is about to go down.

Los Angeles, CA – Transamerican Manufacturing Group (TMG), the largest independent manufacturer in the United States of innovative and performance aftermarket off-road accessories, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Poison Spyder Customs (PSC). Poison Spyder has proven themselves in the industry and is continuing to gain momentum in the off-road community.
