I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for my CB antenna, looking for options. I plan on using the LOD tire carrier mount for a 3 ft firestik II, mounted on a spring, running a ground from the mount, to the tub inside the rear tailgate and running the cable up to the front of the jeep using the roll bar, then down the passenger side b-piller to under the passenger seat, atleast until I get a full size CB. I am currently using a midland 75-822.

I am a complete newb to CBs and while the parts are relatively cheap, I would like to buy right the first time. Any suggestions?

The evo mount that goes on the rear tire carrier is easy to use. I have one I'd give you but it's down south and I won't be able to get to it before the weekend.

I don't even know what I need I guess, because I don't want to ground the tire carrier (at least I don't think so) I want to ground the antenna to the tub (ground plane?). So I guess I need a "stud mount" "spring" and an 18ft coax? What is there to look at in a coax? Is it like speaker wire where different options exist and make a big difference? Simmilar to the sound quality difference between "monster cable" speaker wire vs a walmart brand? Or am I over thinking it?

Go to the nearest truck stop and they have all the shit you need. There was a Pilot travel center nearby when I did mine and I found everything I needed there. And yes you are overthinking it. 18 ft is enough.

Steer clear of the meth head lot lizards.

I've heard this but have yet to check one out! I'm assuming they have everything other than the actual specific mounts to the Jeep?

I just ordered everything I need (I think) yesterday. I ordered an 18' coax off Amazon for like $7, the Evo antenna mount for the gate, 3' Firestik and a quick disco for it.

And yes, steer clear of the lot lizards...Or don't lol.

Link to coax?

Bubba is the second person to tell me to check out a truck stop. I've never been to one... should be an interesting experience I guess... I was hoping to get everything amazon prime, but I MIGHT make a stop at loves friday on my way to hiddenfalls

I've never really had any bad truck stop experiences (knock on wood)

But, I'm sure there are a ton of people that have. Unfortunately the only two things I need are the footman loop mount and the EVO spare mount. Don't think I can get those at a loves.....

I drive a truck and that is what I buy. 18' is the longest a truck stop will have if you need a little longer need to go to a cb shop

Loves is definitely going to have what you need.

When you walk in the front door of loves go towards the back door where the fuel desk is and that is where you will find the cb stuff
