The rise of Olaf The JL

So, before it gets too far gone, I am going to do a build thread for Becky's JLU Rubicon.

She liked my JK so much that she traded her Silverado for a JLU Rubicon the week before Christmas last year.

We joined in the NY19 run with it when it barely had one thousand miles on it.

Got some JL and Wayalife stickers on it

The first mod was a set of LoD signature series sliders.

Also some Jeep floor mats

Been on a couple of snow runs this winter. So far she has had lots of fun with Olaf

Next up was tonight's install of the LoD signature series bumper.

By some mistake it came bare, so I painted it. Powder coating was at least a ten day wait.

At least with paint, it is easy to touch up.

Off with the plastic bumper and on with the new, including the skid plate.

Fog lights in and working. Too bad they are not LED lights.

This is gonna be sweet . Wish I could go back and redo half decisions I made on my build .. this is best of both worlds !

Looks good so far. Question on the sliders. A member on JLWrangler said that the signature series sliders on the JL don't stick out as far as they did on the JK. Do you have any thoughts on that or pictures? We have them on our JK and think they're fine.

The LoD seems to stick out farther than the EVO ones, but are also a bit lower.

Time for a winch

So, I was going to mount the winch on Olaf this morning.

I set it down on the LoD mounting plate that came with the Signature series bumper. Looks good from here.

Now I get under to put the bolts in.

Uh, what's wrong with this picture.

Well, that obviously won't do, so now on to plan B, after I figure out what that is.

Had a busy weekend working on Olaf.

Not too many pics of progress, as I was pressed for time, but the EVO 2.5" Enforcer lift went on, with Synergy spacers and Fox shocks, all from Bubba at Exodus.


I went backwards, doing the rear first, then the front. Backed it out to turn around, it had a lot of rake, like a drag car.

One of the control arm bolts was stubborn, so I used my custom hydraulic wrench to break it loose.

I also made some plate washers for the winch, but ran out of time. It's next, along with the tires.
