push is generally associated with email, it an always-on system that sends (push) the email to the user when certain requirements are met or subscribed to.

As advised earlier I went in a turned off all email, after I checked every box and saved, as recommended.
I am now getting the dot on the bell, and seeing the list of threads that have been replied to. I did have to uncheck each and every push box.
And so far have stopped receiving emails.
Here’s what it currently looks like while it appears to be working as desired. I appreciate everyone’s help and input.
