The Hawklee Build

Superchips Flashcal

so what company nowadays only offers its software and updates on Microsoft? As a Mac user and Apple household i was unable to to run the setup.exe file required to update the hardware

will have to borrow a neighbors computer and try again this weekend.

This weekend marks 2 weeks of completed lift and 1 week of riding with new wheels and tires. I felt I had to make some adjustments to the steering as it was slightly off even after having an alignment at my Jeep dealer. I followed the "Wayalife steering adjustment" guide on the forum and it was easy to use and worked well. On my phone now, but I'll try to paste a link to it as in the 2.5 yrs owning my jeep, the steering wheel always seemed off one way or another and I wish I had known about how to make adjustments on my own sooner.

Edit: added link

This weekend I also replaced my front grill from silver to angry black. And swapping out my factory headlights for some nice LEDs.

The grill was simple to remove and head lights and turn signals were easy to remove as well.

6 little tabs along the top of the grill just under the hood pop right out with a flat head screw driver. Then the bottom of the grill you can just yank straight out as the connectors aren't too strong. Just don't bend them up or down, but pull straight.

You also have to disconnect the turn signal or unattach from the grill as the turn signal housing is connected directly to the grill by little tabs. I found it easy to just unplug each signal then take the signal out of the grill after it was completely disconnected, but you could also leave plugged in and take out the light or bulb as well.

I am really happy with the LED lights. HUGE improvement in lighting and looks.

The lights were simple enough to install but as my 2012 jku doesn't have DRL, I couldn't figure out how to wire the Halo part and there is also a feature where the halo's will connect and flash with the turn signals, but wasn't too concerned with that feature or exactly how to wire so I will save the DRL and turn signals for another day.

Pic of box but not sure why there is another light on right side as mine is the left one.

Today I changed brake pads for the first time. Just did the rear but a lot easier than I thought.
Also changed out the rear sway bar links from my rough county lift kit to JKS adjustable links and cut the corners out of rear wheel wells.

Problem I ran into, and I'm glad I did now rather when there was an emergency, but my lug nut wrench that comes with the jeep doesn't fit in my new dick Cepek wheels to take the wheels off. So had to buy an extra 13/16 deep socket and wrench to keep in my rig.

Has to be worst instruction manual I've ever seen. 3 steps: 1. Mount winch. 2. Connect wires. 3. Don't lose fingers ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1472658083.829739.jpg

That's because nobody speaks English anymore anyways, they figure nobody is going to read that shit. A picture of a dude losing his fingers is much more motivational to be careful when you install it.

Let me know how this goes! I have a mac as well and don't want to have to download a program onto a buddies computer that will slow it down a bunch.

Had to borrow a friends PC to update superchips. It wasn't a huge file and once your done into you can delete it. I don't think I'll need the program often. I guess next time would be when I re gear, prob next year and if I go to 37s a few years out

Awesome, I'll see how it goes!

Evo skid plate weekend and my first oil change. None of which were very difficult or complicated.

Oil change went well once I got the plug screw loose, it was over tight and used some wd40 and vice grips and a hammer. Will probably look to get a new plug next time. Oil filter was easy and only spilled a little oil trying to transfer from the pan to milk jugs. I didn't realize how much oil there would be.

Evo oil pan skid was easier than I thought it would be, just a lot of bolts. Only issue was 2/3s the way reinstalling bolts when one of the corner bolts fell inside of the pan so had to unscrew all and restart. Tip: start in corners where there is more space and there is a greater chance of bolts slipping and falling into the pan. Hand tighten then tighten in a cris cross fashion and then go around one more time.

Evo transmission skid was relatively easy as well. Only tricky part was removing the two nuts securing automatic transmission where it's mounted on the crossmember. Primarily due to limited space and odd angles so using a 16 mm wrench was making 1/8 turn at a time, maybe less. Once loose I was able to use a ratchet on the drivers side. Lastly, instructions said to raise transmission by about a 1/2 in to slide the skid in place between the trans cross member and the exhaust cross over.... I had plenty of space was able to get it in place without a fight. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1474220099.589572.jpgImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1474220124.980843.jpg

Seems strange that the sway bar link came apart in the middle?? Anyone seen this before? Maybe got pulled apart when wheeling...idk Curious if I even need it, thoughts?
Jks link less than 2 years old.
