Battery Recomendations

Well the dual battery tray from RR came in last night. Looks like a good powder coated piece no complaints. Should have it installed this weekend. Pics to come.

Thinking Optima red and yellow combo Group 34's, with a 200 amp stinger isolator some VTE round distribution blocks and insulators all around.

Any suggestions or experience with this install is greatly appreciated, although it looks pretty straight forward.

Dual Battery tray Installed!

Well got all my finalizing pieces in the mail Friday so I decided to do the install.

After much deliberation and research I decided on a second battery. I purchased a Duralast Platinum 34-AGM battery. The specs and the warranty of the Autozone Platinum and the Die-Hard platinum were the same except the price was almost $90 less for the Duralast. I figured since the warranty is the same, what the hell, I would try it out and report back.

Well got the RR tray installed without any issues, really a pretty simple install.

I got my inspiration from the Genesis off road battery kit, except my version doesn't cost $450. I spent about $250 and some change.

My version doesn't have a boost button or a low voltage cut-off but is a 200amp isolator, the Genesis is 85amps.

I ordered the VTE distribution blocks, mil spec terminals, and insulators for the terminals from the VTE Warehouse.

I plan to replace the stock battery with another Duralast 34 AGM once in Colorado.

Winch next!

Looks good man. I was looking to do this mod soon glad to see
It wasn't overly difficult. What would you say total cost was? And what batteries do
You plan on running

Mitrig - as stated above I went with the Duralast Platinum battery group 34 AGM type. Battery was $152 plus the $15 core. The rest of the stuff ran about $250 all together, $110 for the RR tray, $50 for the isolator, $40 VTE stuff, and $60 for 4awg battery cables in black and red. Oh and I threw down $30 for a new set of heavy duty crimpers.

Plan to put another duralast platinum battery in there once I make the move to Colorado at the end of the month.

Made it to our new home in Colorado!

Well guys not really a build update per say, but an update non the less. Towed the JK on a car dolly from the city of Houston, TX to our new home in beautiful Morrison, CO.

If anybody has ever wondered if you can fit 315 70 R17's on a car dolly from Penske? It will fit, its tight but it fits! Had to remove the 1.5" spacers from the front and drop the drive shaft in the rear but towed beautifully 1100 miles no problems.

Not the best pic but here it is ready to roll!

Oh and as far as upgrades to the rig, I added weathertech floor mats front and back, mopar 4 door sill kit, and got my dynomat but haven't installed yet. I also got a pair of those plastic tree trim plug removers, (say that three times faster) LOL.

Well going to roll over to Golden early next week and talk with the folks at Trail Jeeps, going to get my 5.13's installed and talk with them on locker options!
So sweet to have a reputable Jeep speacialist 10 minutes away!:D

Keep Wheelin' more to come!
