The building of "El Toro"

Installed the EVO Pro Series tire carrier today. Solved my vibration issue. Solid product and easy to install. I only wish I had purchased one sooner.

I had been carrying around my spare 35" tire on the factory mount with a relocation braket but I developed a vibration and found some cracks in the sheet metal on the inside of the tailgate.View attachment 314646

Your Jeep looks great, that tire carrier is awesome, just put one on the Brick before the Drummond Island run in August.

I'll be in WA on the 12th...I'll throw in a pair of IPF lights I just removed from my A pillars...I'll pm you when I get in and meet you at Mule...I'll introduce you to the owners, Joe & Dana

I have an arb CKMA12 compressor you can have...for a case of beer. I needed extra room in the engine bay of my Brute, and it was removed; it was the original compressor installed when I bought it...I later installed a larger arb compressor when I went up to 37's...it will be fine to power your air lockers & fill 35's...

Man, that is an awesome thing to do.

You rock!!!! I saw Dana yesterday as I was in there looking for a wheel spacer for the EVO carrier. I met Tracker too :)

I'll need the MaxTrax by then so that'll be a good time to pick them up.

Yeah, I am kicking myself for not knowing about the carrier sooner. I was reading through desrtrunners build and saw he installed one, first time I'd seen one. You won't be disappointed in it.

I agree about Mule. It's reassuring knowing others have had great experiences at Mule. I'll need someone to do the regear and PR44 install next year. [emoji106]

Sounds like a great plan you have going on! And that’s super nice of Brute to be throwing in that compressor and lights for a case of beer!

Big shout out to Brute for the air compressor. Thanks dude!20190307_190502.jpg

Holy resurrection Batman! It’s been almost 6 years since I’ve posted. Lots to update on which I’ll get to.

My build has been very slow but it continues…lots to share.

I won an Eaton TrueTrac at a jamboree in Idaho and decided it was time to regear at the same time. Ended up going with 5.13’s knowing I want 37’s one day.

What a difference the 5.13’s make here in the mountains! Been loving it climb so easy.

The TruTracs have been great even though they are a torsion locker. They force me to stay easy on the throttle and let it work. Absolutely perfect for all the rain I get here in Western WA.

My factory soft top took a dive, the rear zipper actually, and my wife and I had to drive home from MT with an open rear window in the rain and muck. Good times. I hated it since it was limiting my access to the back seat area. I long took out my rear seat since we don't use it, so we could create more space for our stuff.

We ended up replacing it with the Bestop Trektop Pro Hybrid. No more zippers for me. I love the easy access.1735598206116.png1735598311478.png

Our Jeep club planned a trip to the Rubicon in 2021 and I had just discovered my ARB coil springs in the rear were toast. I only had a few weeks until we departed but thanks to the crew at Clayton Offroad they shipped the springs and shocks in time for me to install them, just days before we left. Schew.

Unfortunately, I ended up with the dreaded engine 'ticking' during the Rubicon that turned out to be a rocker arm failing. So the top end of the engine got some major work with all new cam shafts, rockers, etc. when we returned. And there went my PR44 savings. Dang, I was almost there :)
