The building of Bison

Got Bison a bit more dialed in this weekend, I ground down the steering stops and now have a great turning radius. Better than with the previous axle set, but I had never ground down the stops on those.

I added more caster into the front axle and it now seems a lot less flighty, I need to get it out on the highway to get a better feel for it, but 40 and under it was perfect.

I’ve continued to torque and mark all the bolts on the front half of the Jeep.

I spent a good part of today installing a ARB Linx system. It is a complex little bastard, but it has now consolidated my compressor. Lockers, frig, comms, lights and still have a couple slots left into one compact screen. Time will tell if it’s reliable, but so far it’s a seamless control option.

Now I just need the weather warm up a bit and get it out and test it!

That Linx setup looks pretty sweet. Seems like you can control just about everything with it.

Agreed, I’ve run out of switches on my shit pod and need more room for a rigid chase light. That will take three switches on its own.

Damn Bill. At least I manage to post sideways pics! Glad to hear the trim worked well for steering. Don’t forget you need to confirm what ram length you are actually running.

Yeah, on my list as I wrap up the front half.

Here’s a picture of the Linx display since I apparently need more pictures on this thread. The great thing is with both the Linx and Garmin is that they are on Magnetic mounts. Both can be stowed quickly once the half doors are back on. Or more likely, I won’t put them on until I need them.

Took the Jeep out for another test run today. The road manors at highway speed are much better with that additional caster added. I’ll flex it out this weekend and start looking for clearance issues.

The only issue I can’t track down is the rapid bump, bump, bump sound I’m getting on a left turn at speed while turning at a stop light or on ramp on the highway. It was doing it before the axle swap and I had thought it was the RCV popping. But same noise now with the new. It sounds like a tire rubbing on a fender, but there’s no way it touching or rubbing now. And it’s odd that it’s only on a left turn, not right. All that I can figure is that it is drive line related because that is the only area that was consistent between both sets of axles. But everything is tight and looks correct. Any thoughts?

One pic. Sheesh. :rolleyes2:

Is the sound coming from the front or rear? My RK rear track bar hit on the coils and was annoying as hell. I replaced it with the stock bar and the problem went away.
Do the coils look like it's been rubbing somewhere?

OV-Wan Kenobi does it again.

DS is Bumping the gas tank skid. Rear track bar looks straight, but I did realize the rear axle is a 1/2” heavy to the drivers side so that should help by me some more clearance when I rear center it.
