The Adventures of Fiona - '08 JK Rubicon 2-Door

That sucks.... is that a hard fix? How much is a new Manifold?
Hopefully not like my old Nissan. It was an 8-12 hour job plus oem manifolds were almost $800 each. I'm not sure how the 3.8 manifolds are attached or routed but I can say on the 3.6 I pulled them when installing my lift and it wasn't too difficult at all. Then again I only had 1100 miles on it. I am blessed with small hands so that made it a bit easier...haha

Good luck with it.

I hope all the studs aren't siezed up when you get a chance to change them.

Maybe the liquid steel will buy you enough time to be worthwhile.

Well, the 2 I took out to remove the heat shield were fine, so here's hoping the rest are okay when the time comes. I ran it for awhile after the initial cure time and so far so good.

I didn't realize it was a full 24hrs to completely cure and I have to drive it to work tomorrow, so I may end up having to do it again. [emoji23]

You can pretty much do the driver's side without removing anything else. The passenger side looks like the air box and battery tray will probably need to be removed at the very least.

The Crown replacements are both under $80, so not too expensive. I might have my exhaust shop do the work though so I don't waste a weekend with frustration and busted knuckles. [emoji23][emoji23]

Fiona has been throwing codes related to exhaust leaks, poorly performing cats, and random misfires for about a month or so. I assumed it was the cracks that I guessed I had in the manifolds, but I haven't had time to tear into her.

Finally had some time today and this is what I found under the driver side heat shield...

Yep, I'm no expert, but I'm guessing this has something to do with it. [emoji23]

Until I can get new manifolds and the time to replace them, I figured I'd try some liquid steel.

Hopefully this will hold for awhile. I'm tired of the power loss and the reduction in gas mileage... What I really hope is that the cats aren't damaged due to the excess fuel she's been burning. [emoji849]

Let me know if you need me to come down to give you a tow...

Been awhile since I added to this thread. Basically because I haven't had the time to do anything to her and haven't even been able to drive her since around Thanksgiving. The battery died and wouldn't take a good charge so I just let her sit. [emoji24]

Anyway, I finally broke down and ordered an Odyssey Extreme battery with top and side posts so I can hopefully clean up the wiring one of the these days.

I needed to take my pit to the vet today, so I took the time to swap the battery in this morning... Fiona fired right up and the volt meter looks better than it has for months.

It was awesome to be able to drive her even if it was only to West LA. It made the trip that I hate making a little more enjoyable. [emoji23]

Did you happen to notice anything about the voltage for the side posts? Someone posted it’s not enough to hook the winch to?

I remembered reading that somewhere as well. I scanned the manual, but didn't see anything right off. I plan on reading up on it some more and I'll let you know what I find.

I actually don't plan on connecting the winch there anyway... Probably I'll connect all the other auxillary shit I have to the side posts and the winch to the top because of the space I have to deal with but I still want to know if the side terminals have any limitations I need to be concerned with.

I don’t see why there would be any limitations on the side posts. They’re going to have the same potential electrically as the top posts. Those types of batteries are set up that way so that you can use them for either top post or side post so they’re going to be connected to the top terminals internally.

Ugh, I know the feeling. I haven't driven Gruff since Nov. I threw trickle charger on to maintain the battery, but I'm not in a big hurry to get him all dirty again & have to wash outside in the damn cold....

I would tend to agree with this. Not sure why they'd have a lesser rating... It really wouldn't make sense. [emoji848]

That is why I hooked the winch to the side but someone commented I shouldn’t, no clue anymore whom it was

Funny... After I bought it, I remembered that it was you that all your issues started after installing one of these. I was holding my breath until she fired up and things didn't go all whacky. [emoji23]
