thardy's slowest build thread ever...

Finally got my Evo D-Ring Mounts installed and I added a little bit extra to them. Very happy with the way it turned out.

Your rig is looking great Thardy! I have to ask, how did you do this? Is there something behind the EVO plate or did you just paint the frame behind it? I may have to steal this idea! Looks sweet! :thumb:

Thanks. I went to a local sign shop and they gave me a 6x6 piece of vinyl. Cut a piece to fit and marked out the opening on the frame so I knew where to place it and done.

Thanks man, I appreciate it! I'm definitely not a fan of spending $ unnecessarily. It's definitely tempting just to buy what's affordable at the moment, but I've done that WAY too many times to count. Surprisingly, I'm actually enjoying taking my time building this rig. It's allowing me to truly learn what it's capable of throughout each mod.

Looking forward to meeting you one of these days as well!

Definitely. While I really rushed a few parts of my rig, I slowed down a bit last fall and just did drive train mods to keep it durable since I don't live close to any wheeling spots.

Hopefully I can make the Uwharrie run this summer. Thanks for getting the east coast thread going and keeping it updated. We definitely need more east coast activity,

I hear ya on the reliability side. I'm just glad to see things getting active on the east and that there's quite a large interest in the Uwharrie run.

Got the SpiderWebCage on today. Didn't take long at all. Not real sure how it's going to work with putting the soft top back on, but we'll cross that bridge later. I'll also let tall know my opinions when I actually take it out tomorrow.

I usually end up removing the two bungies that go around the soft top clamp hoops on the windshield so that the soft top can clamp down. Let me know if you do that or what you do.

So, now that I have a work truck, I'm currently in a rather serious debate with myself and selling the Jeep to pick up an older TJ or LJ.

What do you guys feel would be a fair asking price for it?

Wait, so your bailing out on the JK? hows come?

I'm having a hard time being ok with making the payments on the JK while it now sits in the driveway 90% of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but financially it doesn't really make sense. If I can unload it and pick up a TJ or LJ that I can beat on for less $, it just kind of makes more sense to me. May be I'm overthinking it. It's been something I've been seriously beating myself up on for the last couple of weeks.

Tough call. I like older jeeps also. If I didn't need the extra seats, I would own a 2 door

I understand. Just sold my polaris ranger for the same reason ($290/mo.) My jeeps my DD so i get to wheel it through the suburbian jungle everyday lol.

If mine was still my DD this wouldn't even be a question. But now that I have a 2013 f150 to use as my own for a work truck, my jeep just sits in the driveway all week.

Well since it's not your DD just build the shit out of it since it doesn't really matter what kind of MPG you'll be getting now. Go for 37s lol

I would if it wasn't a $ thing. Having a $400 a month payment on a vehicle that sits still most of the week is just hard for me to stomach. Especially when we're trying to save for a house.

I would take as many of the aftermarket parts off as you can, if you end up taking it to a dealership to trade it for a TJ or LJ on the lot.
