Tesla solar can fuck off -Rant

I bought my house with Tesla installed. I had to basically take over the contract.

$160 a month, awesome, literally no power bill monthly.

Last August, the panels took a shit. Tesla says no problem. It’s warranty work. It’s covered. 4 months later still no panels. Don’t worry, we will refund you for no solar production

Spring hits, my roof gets half ripped off in a wind storm. I call Tesla and tell them, no problem, we will come out and fix them anyways.

They come out, say they won’t swap until the new roof is put on. At this point they say, 5k for removal and reinstallion.

what ! It’s under warranty, nope. Now you have to pay since we have to come out twice. What in the fuck. Whatever, I pay,

Finally they come out this September to finally install the new panels. 13 months later.

They fucked up my new roof and drilled holes not in the right place ( whole other story).

I requested the solar production review. Yup, we will credit, $230 for 4 months of 2023 with no solar production. We can’t look at 2024 until 2025 hits.

So, I’ve been paying Solar for an entire year, plus power for a whopping $230 back.

160 for 4 months is $640. They didn’t even give me enough for what I paid them, and no they don’t refund on what you pay per month on the contract.

I basically paid power for the last year , plus Solar that didn’t work and there’s not a fucking thing I can do, because contract.

$1920 to Tesla, another $2800 to power, plus 5k for solar removal.

Avoid Tesla at all cost.

Sucks you had to take over the contract. Was it a purchase or lease?

I haven’t heard a single good reason to go solar. Not one.

And for those that swear up and down they are saving money. I hand them a calculator and ask for them to prove it. Or at least tell me how many years will it take to break even. Most don’t even know! All they see is a low monthly bill or no electric bill. Same as the dummies who buy a 60K dollar Tesla to “save” at the gas pump. lol

You’re not wrong, there’s no savings. Maybe $200 a year, well I’m in the hole for a couple years to make the money back.🥹🙄.

Unfortunately I didn’t have a choice when I bought.

Hey hey hey I resemble that remark...haha. I don't plan on staying in my house until the break even. I do plan on selling it with "paid off solar" and tacking it onto the selling price. Easier than trying to convince a buyer to take on a lease contract.

For sure, I bought my house crazy cheap before the market went up. I’ll make money when I sell and gtfo outta this state in the spring.

We have done a good amount of projects where the owner wants solar... I hate it. It's ugly on the roof and it's ugly at the service Panel. For what... to save a couple bucks... yeah right. People think if the grid goes down they will be ok... BS... Only if you spend 20-30k on batteries... on top of the panels. We did one job last year with a Tesla Roof (Tesla Shingles) and Batteries. Tesla was a pain in the ass to deal with... they have zero construction knowledge... they are slow as fuck to actually come out and install... and it wasn't like dealing with your typical sub contractors that understand the industry... it was more like a bunch of college nerds. No thanks.

That sucks you inherited the problem. Solar sucks plain and simple. Lucky you, you get to move out of this shit hole though. lol

I was wondering about the Tesla roof. Saw a couple over the years on high end home construction. Too bad.
