Templar's Build

Wow, looks great, really like that new EVO rear bumper.

As far as the squeaks, remember you paid a lot of money for those squeaks, just learn to appreciate and embrace them!

Just picked her up from having the EVO MFG C2 Axle Gussets & EVO MFG Rock Sliders welded on. Made a appointment next week to get the 4.88 gear's installed. It's starting to look how I envisioned...

Damn that's looking sharp. What front bumper and tire carrier will you wind up with?

Thanks much!

Front I am going with a EVO MFG 1/4 Pounder & Stinger. 1/4 pounder is ready to go on, Stinger is at the Powder Coaters.

For the rear I am going to try a temporary solution of doing what Mel did with Evolander - stock tire carrier with a plate that supports the weight of the tire when the tailgate is closed. Long term, I am undecided but leaning toward the PS crusher corners and body mounted tire carrier. I also like the EVO corners with the tire carrier but I need something my wife can still easily operate. There is a local Jeep meet and greet in a week and a half, I hope to find someone with the EVO Tire Carrier so I can see how easy it is to operate...

Good choices. Not a huge fan of red, but yours is done just right! I look forward to seeing your rig become a monster.

I appreciate the feedback. As I mentioned in the first post of my build, your build thread is one that "influenced & inspired" me on the direction I decided to go with this build. I especially like your Rock Hard Sport Cage install - you took your time trimming moldings and it looks outstanding. :thumb: I'm thinking about the Rock Hard or PS cage but leaning toward the Rock Hard right now.

Templar, outstanding!!!!!! It is coming together nicely! What did you do one the rock skins where the EVO logo is? I can't really see in the pictures. Would you mind snapping a close up!

Thanks much :)

I just cut out a circular piece of plastic from a plastic 3-ring binder cover to put behind there. I heard some people use a piece of Vinyl as well. The texture of the plastic kind of matches the black powder coating on the sliders and bumpers.

Great looking rig, quality work really shows. Can't wait to see shots of you taking it out and stretching it! 👍🏻

Nice.... The color match came out great!!!!

Thanks much! Yeah it really matches good. Now that the fenders are on I need to get it back over to my buddies body shop so he can sand and buff out a couple runs in the fenders.

It is in much need of a bath and a good wax as well, was going to do that yesterday but it was raining.

I know, I can't wait either. There is a big local annual Crown King run this weekend, but there is something like 200 rigs signed up and I really don't want to be stuck in a traffic Jam for 12 hours.

I am thinking maybe after the gears are done next week, and I get the 500 mile break in done of running some trails in Sedona, AZ. Beautiful country up there and I have never wheeled them for some reason. Maybe drag utiadam and Offline along for the ride :) Here is a pic of all 3 Jeeps a few weeks ago when we were helping Offline with his install of 37x13.50 Toyo RT's on his B.A.D DOT Compliant beacklocks.

Hahahaha you are right about the squeaks :)

Thanks for the compliment on the EVO Rear Bumper. The looks are really deceptive, it looks big and bulky but its not as big as the stock bumper, and it looks sleek / slim up close and in person. It it sure is a hell of a lot stronger that that piece of plastic they call a stock bumper. After taking the stock bumper off, and being reminded how light it is, I now see why people are fine with going with something like the evo fascia, there really is no difference. I feel good having that strong bumper in the back - many years ago I was stopped and rear ended by someone going pretty fast, because of the big bumper I was able to drive away, the other guy was totaled.

Totally agree, traffic jams are no fun. I'm in the same boy, have about 260mi into the breakin period, so only another 240 to go. It's been tough since I only drive 2mi to work every day.

Great looking line up there! Finally got a pair of D44s, need to get the lockers wired, but soon. Can't wait to get out on the trail soon.

Joey,

Well I am kind of in the same boat with the gear break in, only worse - I work from home and have a 0 mile commute LOL! I guess after work is over I am going to have to drive it just to put the miles on it.

I just ran through your build thread and subscribed - WOW nice job, I love your Jeep and congrats on the D44's! I have a few questions for you. How did you like the 4.88's with 35's? I am scheduled to install 4.88's with my 37's that measure out to exactly 36" right now. I typically drive 75 on the freeway which was the main decision for the gear ratio choice. Also, did you install the 1/4 pounder & stinger yourself? If so how long did it take you? That is my next project and I want to get it knocked out asap, just curious what kind of time I should plan on. It looks like you have the EVO Hi-lift tailgate mount, Is that a 48" Hi-Lift you have, and if so, how much does it stick above the top? I am curious if I got one of those if I would still fit in my garage or not...

Rig is looking great, when I first saw the rockers I didnt think you even installed them.

Thanks bud, I know, I thought they would be more visible having the skins painted red, and the sliders being black that the EVO Sliders would show up better / be more visible - that was really the reason I had the skins color matched vs just powder coating them black.

In general, I absolutely love the EVO Sliders - probably the best decision I made on this rig so far.
