Sway bar Disconnect Skid plate

I swapped the stock bumper of my JL and under the air dam is this metal piece. Is this a skid plate or some other protective barrier? I'm not sure I'm crazy about how it looks so I'm curious what to do about it. I don't think I see it on Eddie's jeep. Thanks!

Thanks. You can remove the plate but the two sides would have to be cut off in order to truly remove it all.

That's not a JL though. Are you sure they are built the same?

The JK is different... I have the EVO 1/4 pounder like Clearskies does and you actually have to cut a crossmember off to get it on... but the sway bar motor gets rotated up higher.

Yes, now I see what he did. So LoD has a replacement skid plate for that area which was part of the bumper. Yes, that's exactly what I was trying to understand. Thanks.
