Superchips Trail dash / Trail Jammer TDX

Not to highjack but does the trial dash do a better job of reconfiguring your jeep for 35's than the aev procal?

I saw another post where a guy had the procal and got 35's and his jeep drove horrible. I want to make sure my 2010 automatic will still be a functional dd with 35's.

Its not gonna be the programmers fault that it drives bad. Axle gearing, tire weight, jeep weight are gonna be the factors. If you have 4.10's (Rubicon) or better it won't seem so bad if the tires you get are not that heavy. 3.73's are manageable also, but if u have 3.21's don't bother unless you regear. At this point I consider a trans cooler mandatory for 35's, heck I needed one for 33's. I have toyo open country mt's, they are only 33's, but seem to weight as much as a lot of 35's. My auto is a dog even with 4.10's. Sure its drive able, but I could really tell the difference of these heavy tires on the highway. I had trans temp issues coming back from tds. Now that I have a trans cooler its much better, I can turn off OD on hill climbs on the highway and not see my trans temp hit 217f+. The trail dash will show u the auto trans temp in real time and can make shift point changes and adjust the speedo for the tire increase, but it sadly can't regear your axles, or make up for the garbage 4 speed found in the 07-11 jk

I really want the Traildash but have heard that they make your factory NAV equipment go bonkers. I notice from your pics that you have the same MyGig that I do. Did you notice any satellite signal interruption once the Traildash was installed? If so, how did you remedy the issue?

This is the MyGig 430 REN without navigation. So I can't say anything about possible satellite signal interruptions, sorry.

Hmmm. I'm pretty sure the GPS antenna is on the sport cage so I'm not sure why it would interfere. The directional antenna is under the lid of the dash so I could see potential interference there maybe.

Pretty sure the trail dash install instructions talk about this and show an alternate mounting place:)

I have the traildash mounted there and I moved the gps piece per their instructions. I haven't had any issues with gps or Sirius. I check the nav right after and my compass is easy to check being that the mountain are always west.

I have a question on this programmer, did anyone buy it and has the my gig navigation system from the factory? Also did it effect anything with it? I mean did it mess up any of the navigation program or vise versa in the 2011 or newer?

That's the same question I asked a few posts ago. A bunch of guys did a great job answering it. Just read the four posts before yours and you've got your answer. Unless I'm missing something about what you're looking for.

Yes I have it on my 08 with factory nav. No if you follow the directions and move the module and place it like they show, I didn't have and don't have any issues with the nav or compass.

After looking back it seems all the threads I read with people who had problems were from a few years back. Obviously, Superchips has taken steps to outline a solution. Good stuff, thanks!

So I just went and messed with mine. I don't use my nav unless I am going out on trails, and even then I have an iPhone app that's much better.

I looked and it said I was in woodland park Colorado, which is probably the last place I used the nav. I had 0 satellites. I drove around the block with the dash part off and it picked up 6, then I put it back on and went to 0. Once it picked up the 6 it corrected itself and even with the dash back on, it was fine. I drove around the block again and it was still correct and showed the right street names. Honestly the dash is more useful to me then the nav itself. I use PDF maps by avenza, it's a free iPhone and iPad app, and has a map store with MVUM maps for Colorado. They are free, and what this allows you to do is plot your trail heads, then use the apps built in GPS on the trail to determine where you are. You can even import/export between devices so you can give it to all the jeepers in your group. works on android too.

Wow, thanks a lot for all the info. I never really use my RER nav either. Like you said, my Iphone's nav is more than sufficient on the rare instance that I need to be navigated.

I use the Rugged Ridge dash bar (I don't use the two plastic trays that it comes with) as a mounting point for multiple items. It's a perfect mounting point for almost any accessory because it is a solid metal bar that runs along the length of the windshield. Right now I have RAM Mounts on there, one for my GoPro and one for my Iphone.

Here are a couple stock photos of the RR bar I use as a mounting point. I just ditched the cheap plastic trays the photos show.

This bar could make a great mounting point for the Traildash too if you aren't interested in removing your upper dash panel and relocating any of your nav equipment.

Hey Hack12 I've been thinking about doing the same thing; using the RR bar as a universal bar mount (without their trays) what is the diameter of the bar? Any pics of how you used it?

The bar is about 3/4" in diameter, though I haven't done any exact measurements. I am currently waiting for the Ram Mounts I ordered to arrive, tracking is showing Tuesday, 2/4. I am running the bar alone now, I just can't believe it took me this long to think of using it as a universal mounting platform. As of Tuesday, I will have my GoPro mounted in the center to record video and my iphone mounted on the driver's side to view the video in real time. I'll post some pics as soon as I get it all set up.

Here is exactly what I ordered from Ram Mounts. Obviously, you can vary from what I ordered depending on what you want to mount and how you want it mounted. Their site is extremely user friendly and they make mounts for almost any product and application you can think of.

Exactly what I was thinking about doing, :thumb: just hadn't pulled the trigger on the RR mounts...was going back and forth about buying the system if I wasn't going to ever use the trays (would love to by just the bar and mounts it they sold it that way), thus hadn't spec'd out bar diameter to compare with RAM mounts. :naw: Thanks for your list as it will be a good starting point for me to figure out how I want to configure.

Was thinking Trail Dash to the left, GoPro in the center like you mentioned and possibly a separate GPS unit somewhere along the run (don't like the factory one). Would love to see some pics once you get it installed. Let us know how it goes. Good luck with it all.

Sure thing man. I'll have it all in that same day most likely so I'll be sure to post some pics here asap.
