Stock Jeep. First move?

Hi all! I'm brand new to Wayalife and brand new to the Jeep community! I just got a 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport all stock, and I was just seeking some advice as to what my first move to make "Blackie" (my Jeep) look like a monster! Should I get tires? Or maybe a budget boost lift? I could use some help from you seasoned vets!

the first mods should be the free ones. flip your mirror, remove the front air dam (your mpg will go down but it just looks better!), put black zip ties around your hood hold downs. put the top down and drive it!

couple questions here.... Flip mirror? and black zip ties around hood hold downs? pics and explanation please...:idontknow:

The first things I think anyone should get are recovery gear, tools and air. No one should be going off road without them. You can do a lot with a stock JK and personally I would wait to see what type of wheeling you like and talk to the guys in your area about what works best for them. It will save you a lot of buying twice when you figure out what you should have.

Get a recovery strap without metal hooks, start a tool bag, get an air compressor and something to air down with then get some Jeeping buddies and have some fun.

Clayton 4.5 Inch Longarm Kit, ($3300)
36.5 Inch IROK radial tires, ($2000)
*optional* Bush whacker Fenders ($600)

it should look like this.

sorry, I don't have any pics but I certainly can explain.

1) because of the shape of the rearview mirror and the amount of rear window covered by your spare tire, you actually see very little out the back using the mirror. if you flip your rearview mirror upside down so the tab is up and not down, you'll be able to see more of the rear window around the tire. still won't see too much mind you but it'll be more than you could see previously.

2) the soft durometer hood hold down will stretch and cause "hood flutter" on the highway when you pass a large vehicle in the opposite direction. if you put a black zip tie around the hold down, it will essentially eliminate the flutter as the plastic ziptie won't stretch.

just found these pics online.

thats cool I always get hood flutter on the freeway or in windy areas. That's a great cheap fix thank you.the mirror flip might not work for me because I have tire carrier and trail rack but still good idea! Thanks for the info
