Spent a few days in Big Bend National Park

The family and I spent 5 days in Big Bend this past week. We had a really great time and put some mileage on our JT. None of the trails were very hard but there was a lot of beautiful scenery.

On a few obstacles at max flex I noticed I was rubbing the fenders some. Is this par for the course or do I need to do some more cutting? I assume adjusting the height wouldn’t help this? Planning to hit some more technical places soon and would like to limit damage if possible.

Tires will hit here front and back-

A few other pictures of my JT in Big Bend.

If the fender rub is just some mild abrasion (rather than possibly tearing something up/off) then maybe the solution is to just ignore the noise and put some more miles on the tires until the rub goes away.

I have visited most of the west and my recollection is that Big Bend has some of the roughest seeming terrain. I have only off-roaded there once (for remote camping) and it was in my old CJ-5 which was not extremely capable and had some exhaust manifold and possibly some carburetion issues.

Mild fender rub doesn’t bother me at all. My concern is getting into bigger obstacles and removing a fender.

I love that place! Old Ore road is a great trail. And I see you did Black Gap, that’s another fun one. Great looking Gladiator, too!

I can’t wait to get back out there! The next time i go will be the first time in a jeep. Black Gap is a Badge of Honor trail, if you care about that stuff. All in all, Big bend is a great place to go for some good trail time. Maybe next time checkout Big Bend State Park up the road and try some of those trails!
