I definitely get what you’re saying.
Germany and Japan were certainly warranted, not even a question of that. Keep in mind we literally forced both countries to change culturally and they largely benefited from our occupation and we are still paying them to be there and we still exert influence in each of those countries.
The places I listed fall into a completely different category. I understand the idea of denying islamic extremists a place to plan, train, and launch attacks from- but what about London, Paris, Karachi, and Dearborn….?
AFG should have been a Punitive Expedition. The initial part was awesome, killed a ton of bad guys but the Nation Building was an utter failure. I am saying this from personal firsthand experience.
Iraq was largely a mistake and the intel used to invade was faulty. If we wanted to kill Saddam that’s cool, but invading and trying to make Iraq a modern democracy was a huge mistake. I am saying that also from personal firsthand experience.
Remember the mobile Chem/Bio labs that led to the final decision to invade Iraq? The intel was fabricated by some Iraqi living in Europe who made his living getting paid for ‘intel’.
Story here:
The Iraqi informant's German handlers say they had told U.S. officials that his information was 'not proven,' and were shocked when President Bush and Colin L. Powell used it in key prewar speeches.

I’m definitely not saying there isn’t a time to get involved militarily, I’m just saying that we need to make really, really sure it’s worth the lives of our fellow Americans and our treasure before we become committed.
I think the best deciding factor for whether we should get involved or not in these locations is for each of us to ask if the involvement is worth me personally going, and/or sending our kids or grandkids go.
This was essentially Trumps statement to chicken hawk Liz Cheney.
A good example: Little girls cannot attend school in AFG. Ok. So is that worth your life or your child’s life to change?
