Show your Wrist Watch

Rolex GMT II red/black bezel. Had it for at least 10 years and I can't believe how much they have gone up. Last time I looked they have almost doubled. Ridiculous. Glad I got it when I did. Also have a Breitling Super Avenger Titanium. Don't wear it much . And a few others I had in high school and college. A TAG not sure of the model but they make no parts for it any longer and a Citizen Aquland my parents got me in the 9th grade.

Pics? I love the GMTs and Subs. Such great looking, simple watches. I believe my Grandfather has a few Rolex's.

My daily Nixon 42-20. Absolutely love this thing. It has a 200M water resistance I can take it diving in the morning then wear it out with my 3 piece that night.

And a little taste of my G-Shock obsession.

Garmin ForeRunner 610 for the last 5 years or so. Thousands of miles logged between running and the bikes. Kind of beat up, but still works good.

Suunto Ambit 3 Peak and Suunto Core.

Giving this thread a bump.
Looking for input on these activity tracker dealio’s. Needs to have a heart rate monitor or be able to sync to a band.
The suunto and garmins are where I’m looking. But if something else is out there I’m all ears.
I’m not a smart watch guy plus I think I’d break the apple watch in one day. Fit Bits and the like are a joke. Need something rugged and that’s actually accurate.

If you're in the market for these check out experticity.com (formerly primitive.com) Good deals to be had there. I believe your profession qualifies you for their prodeal.

I’ve had the Garmin Fenix 3 Sapphire for several years. It does the things you want and is tough as hell. Mine syncs to a heart rate strap but the newer model (Fenix 4 or 5?) takes heart rate straight from the wrist, which is kinda cool.

I use the Garmin Fenix 5x. I’ve had this one for more than a year. I wear it for an everyday watch for work and for trail running and hiking when I can. It holds a gps single very well in the trees. The built in heart rate monitor works well, but not as accurate as my chest strap. It has a built in map which works great for mountain bike routes and trail navigation. The battery life will last a week with a couple hour long runs with the GPS on. The activity track works well too.

Quality wise, this thing never comes off my wrist. The crystal is extremely strong. I’ve smacked it wrenching on the jeep and thought for sure I shattered it and there wasn’t even a scratch. I have scratched the metal bezel hitting on stuff, but even those are minimal for how hard I am on it.

Right on. Thanks
So it will last a week with a few hours long GPS stints mixed in? Or it will last only a few hours with GPS but a week without?
The Fenix is checking all the boxes for sure. But I was hoping for a few days of GPS out of the battery.
How long does it take to charge? Micro USB charger?

Glad to hear it’s lasted a few years. That’s my heart ache with these things. I’ve done the fit bits, Nike watch and a couple Timex Ironmans. I could never get more than a couple months out of them before they acted up or flat out broke. The Timex’s are tough but lack on just about every feature.

It can get 3 or so 1-2 hour hikes out of a charge. It has settings for multi day hikes where it fixes your position one a minute instead of every 10 seconds. I have a little charge pack that I can plug it into for long duration trips and it works great. Just charge over lunch or dinner and your good to go for days of gps use. If don’t use the gps, I’ve gone as far as two weeks with out a charge.

Charging takes about 1-2 hours going from 10% to full. It uses its own style usb cord for charging.

The other great advantage of it is that it pairs to your phone, you can see who’s calling or texting you and decline them with a push of a button. It’s The best feature while driving the jeep with the top and doors off. The screen is very clear even in full sun as well.

Gah. Strike one. You had me sold right up till then. Nothing I can’t get over I guess. I just HATE having multiple charge cables. In my back pack I keep my Apple cord for my phone and a micro usb for everything else.

Those charge times and battery life is a lot better than I thought it was. Thanks for the input. [emoji106] The Fenix 5 is leading the pack for me right now.

I break the band on my Fitbit Charge HR, every time I wrench on a Jeep.

I’ve had my Garmin Forerunner for 7 1/2 years and its never given me any problems. The gps works really well holding signal even in the deepest Wisconsin woods. I wear it daily so it has some scratches and band has been replaced a couple of times. Other than that it’s been a great watch and I will probably by another Garmin if this one ever dies:

If I had to buy a watch today, it would be the Fēnix 5X.

My Fenix charging cradle uses a standard USB plug.
