Show your Knives!

I've owned several Gerber products over the years with no issues but I've always been sceptical of that machete. Seems like I always see it near the registers near the trinket gauntlet. I hope they take care of it for you.
I was going off past experience and the name. I’ve always had great luck with Gerber. I’ve had my multi tool for 25 years and it’s still going strong. We’ll see what happens.

You got me to wondering how many knives I have tucked away in the rig. Let's see, there are 3 that live in the Jeep; there’s the Gerber Strongarm tactical with the molle attachment next to the shifter, the Buck that fits nicely in the door pocket, and the Spyderco that stays in my Go Pack that’s always in the Jeep. Then there is one of my EDC Benchmade knives that’s are always on me. I’ve started carrying a Bradford Guardian 3 in my day pack that’s always close by and those don’t count the blades on the couple of multitools that are floating around somewhere in the tool pouches. I dont think of myself as the "tactical" type, but nice to be prepared. 90 % of the time I'm grabbing my Benchmade if I need a knife. I apoligize for all the red dirt, I just got home from 10 days with the doors off in Moab.

I like the Leatherman stuff and have a couple that I usually now keep with the hunting bag or tacklebox. Also a couple of their small ones that I used to carry everyday, but just a bit too big to suit me. I started carrying a CRKT LCK a few years ago. I'm terrible about laying something down and forgetting it, especially knives and tools. These are in the $30-40 range, so not a killer if I lose one, and I do. On the 3rd one now, and the last one is lost for the 2nd time. I like folders over fixed blade,at least for carrying. Don't have a big collection but have a few, including a Case with redbone body that I found over 50 years ago. I'd love to get a "designer" folder, but would be scared to everyday with it with my luck.

After loosing my Strider folder a few years ago in the desert near Wells Nevada, I became hesitant to carry a high dollar knife. Eventually the pain faded and I picked up this Hinderer XM-24.

The fit and finish is really impressive and it has some really well thought out features.

The frame lock is titanium. The clip is secure but does not trash your pocket.

I really like the ‘flipper’ mechanism that allows for a fast deployment. You can also use the thumb stud to open it.

There is a provision to flip the clip to the other end.

The pivot mechanism is robust and can be adjusted for tension.

The pocket clip is sunk into the handle to prevent it from pivoting. There is a location to attach a lanyard if you are so inclined.

The lock-up is solid and the engagement block is replaceable.

This trapped bearing keeps the knife securely closed while in your pocket but allows for a smooth opening.

I really like the knife and think it was well worth the money. Having said that there are times when I choose to carry a less costly knife- mainly when I believe the possibility of loss is high.

I posted about this knife a couple years ago probably. I was worried that it was too delicate for the likes of me. I’ve been carrying it now for maybe two years every day and it’s actually been a really good knife. Holds an edge well and other the a small chip in the wood, it’s been durable as well.

Minimalist. Looks cool.
