Show Off Your Guns!

I’m sure this has been asked before in here but what holster(s) does everyone use? Mainly for CC. Seems tons of ads and heard recommendations for We the People holsters.
That's one of those personal preference things.

I used to carry a G26, had a holster I loved as it was comfortable, easily concealable, and a smooth draw.
When I went to a G36 and a G21 the same holster but for the different frames absolutely sucked ass.

Took me quite some time to find a holster for the G21 that was comfortable (you can't hide that pig) and it is a Fobus with a paddle. Has the adjustment screw so you can adjust the angle it rides at.

My G36 is some offbrand kydex that I found hides well, isn't uncomfortable, and has a clean draw.

I've been through a lot of IWB holsters and only 2 that I found comfortable.

One with a clip that's thin leather is Ace Case. Very slim.

But my absolute favorite is one like this. Pretty sure I have this exact one. Blackhawk Tecgrip. No clip. It feels like one of those rubber lid openers for jars. It grips on your body or clothing and you can draw the gun without the holster moving. The inside of it is like felt/velvet. It's extremely comfortable. Great for a compact 380.

The most comfortable ‘concealed carry’ holster I have ever had was a Custom made Milt Sparks leather holster. That’s carrying a G17 and later a G45. It’s not super concealable but I wore it with a suit, on my right hip under a suit coat. I’d wear it 18 hours a day with no issues. It is OWB and the wait time for one is 40 weeks. It’s a bit of a luxury and you’re paying for the craftsmanship as well as the historical prestige.

The most concealable and fairly comfortable holster is a BladeTec or Raven appendix holster. At work I carry mostly a G45 and at home I carry the G45 in the winter and a G19 or G48 in the summer. Appendix carry is not for everyone but it has tactical advantages that many do not understand.

Some factors to consider:
Body type
Weapon size
Weapon location OWB, IWB, appendix
Clothing worn
Concealment verses speed of deployment

I recommend carrying the biggest gun you can conceal and practice dry and live fire- a lot.

Another factor many do not consider is a belt. Get a high quality and stiff belt. I like the Mean Gene Leather belt with the Aegis buckle. The Aegis buckle is ‘micro’ adjustable and allows you to fine tune the tension. Unlike a regular belt where one hole is too tight and another is too loose their belt allows you to find the perfect fit. Also when you don’t have a gun the buckle is a good weapon in of itself and you can adjust some attitudes if needed.

Hope you find what you need.

Lots of good info, thanks!

Plan to carry IWB. I always wear the Groove belts which are pretty sturdy and stretch a bit which should help holding it in.

Narrowed my gun choices to sig p365 x macro, vp9, and the canik mc9 mete. Fit my big hands well and the size I feel is best for concealment.

Holsters are like a good pair of work jeans, you really need to "try them on for fit".

If it's uncomfortable or hard to cleanly draw, you're not going to wear it.

I've been lucky in the fact I know several gun shop owners and they will let me test fit the pistol with the holster and in the carry position.

I don't know whether this has already been covered elsewhere in the thread but...

Speaking of IWB, I've heard a lot of people are going to appendix carry these days. I haven't tried it yet, and yet it sort of creeps me out for no good reason. I've also heard the draw cycle is much more practical. Thoughts?

....And a quick update on my new drop leg holster (thanks again WJCO!).

Immediately figured out why you put a few stitches in the top of the holster. It flops around quite a bit. But from what I can tell, the stitches should resolve it. I'll post another update when it's stitched up tomorrow.

Best place to ask this question is the pistol-forum. Lots of in depth knowledge on the subject of carrying handguns for duty and personal protection.

This is what I've done. As long as gun is unloaded, I've had several stores let me walk around with it in the store to see how it feels to try out holsters.

I have several including WTP, Tulster, etc. but so far I’ve found my favorite to be a Tier 1 Concealed Axis Elite. I carry appendix so I much prefer a Kydex holster for more peace of mind. But like others have mentioned here, it’s personal preference or what fits your body type. I will say I liked my WTP ones better after I switched the bulky plastic clip out with a low profile metal one from Tulster and also added a claw. It printed pretty bad before that. But still prefer the T1C. The only thing I added was a wedge which I have on every holster.
