Shark "Tank"

Made a little platform today for those times when I take my dog along, or when I could use the extra storage room. The space behind the folded down seats can be a little rough on a dog or gear.

That cross support sits on the bare metal seat frame near the bolts. It levels out the platform and also provides strength to the platform.

Gotta love the Walmart carpet.

Here it is all installed. Not bad for a silly little afternoon project.

Nice! My dog sits between us with her front part on console and she rests her ass on the rear seat letting her legs hangs. Kinda funny. I might do something like that.

Hey sharkey, trying to find some details and maybe you can help. I know you ran power to your trunk deck. What did you use (wiring, plug, etc) and where/how did you tap power to run it to the back?

Nothing as involved, but you are the only one I can recall running additional power to 12v type plug.

I ran 12 gauge wire from each of the two plugs all the way up the inside of the jeep and through the passenger hole in the firewall and directly to the battery. Each plug is grounded on the ground bolt by the passenger footwell. Each plug has its own 30 amp fuse by the battery.

So, these are direct hot leads to the battery and they are always live. I didn't want to tap any existing wiring for these lines.

I used marine 12 volt plugs because they have good covers.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

^^thanks. I did a quick search and found those plugs...or at least similar on Amazon. The always hot might be more than I need/want.

Saw this today, and thought of the Shark Tank: http://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerHo...d=1460995721&sr=8-1&keywords=anker+powerhouse

Its basically a Lion version of the Goal Zero, and apparently also solar friendly, while being about 1/3 the weight. I see where one might want a goal zero instead, as they have been around, and the lead acid batteries are a known quantity, but this looks pretty cool in and of itself.

That looks pretty damn cool. Thanks for posting that up. :thumb: I wonder what the risk (if any) is of fire. Looks like a well-respected company that has been in the business for a while. I am all for innovation and competition with this stuff. Maybe it will bring prices down a bit.

And yes, the goal zero yeti 400 is HEAVY!

I have a couple of Anker products and have had no issues (smaller battery banks), but I would assume (we know how that goes...) that they have a fairly decent anti-overcharge and discharge circuits built in to help alleviate a large part of the risk - but fire would be the biggest concern for me as well.

My guess is GoalZero will have to start offering Lion soon as well, and I wouldnt be surprised if some more didnt come to market as well. Maybe a simple battery upgrade for current owners, and with the size capability, since the size is already set with the current build, maybe it would make it a Yeti600 or something. Then a smaller Yeti400...

I wonder if the battery is replaceable. I know that I can replace the battery in my Yeti once it takes a crap.

I know I read it in here somewhere....
Does your goal zero setup maintain all your gadgets and fridge without draining the battery?

^^Sorry, just saw this.

That's the intent. I ran my fridge on a weekend camping trip with the goal zero. However, when we explored in the jeeps I switched the fridge over to the jeep 12 volt to conserve the goal zero.

And zero zombies were harmed during testing. #truestory
