Rubicon trail summer of 2022

So what is the difference between JJUSA, the jeepers jamboree, and the jeep jamboree. They are all three separate on the event calendar and all the best open times look to be the week after one of those events.

Jeepers Jamboree is the original event and it's the biggest. Jeep Jamboree USA is a separate company that does events all over the USA and on the Rubicon, it's a smaller and more tame event. Not sure what the 3rd one is.

So the original dates in July I was looking at are after JJUSA and before the jeepers jamboree so maybe that should still work

Putting this here mostly as a placeholder but I am gonna use it as a place to gather info and get ready for a bucket list trail.

Background is made a deal with the wife that in the summer of 2022 I'm gonna take a jeep trip... No wife..... No dog... No kids (if that happens in the near future). Just me and the jeep and I want to finally do the rubicon.

Because it will be just me I will probably be in the 2dr loaded down but time will tell which jeep I bring.

I have never done the Rubicon nor have I ever multi day trail run / camp so definitely gonna be looking for tips and tricks and things to know or think about when it comes to any permits etc.

Open invite to anyone on WAL that wants to join me. I may try and get my dad to ride along with me since he lives up in Sacramento. If there is a lot of interest we can start working out dates with people way later when it gets closer. I don't even know what's a good time of year to do it haha.

While I'm up there I was thinking fordyce would be awesome to hit too but the Rubicon is the priority and I will have to see how many days I can off.

The Rubicon Trail is definitely on my bucket list and would like to go in 2022. I'd like to go with some experienced off roader, no newbies. I've been wheeling for about 7 years, my experience is overland camping. I run trails all over AZ and So Cal from easy, moderate and hard. I don't have much rock crawling experience.

A few of us are heading there the week after Labor Day planning 3 days. We are from the Pacific Northwest so not a ton of rock crawling experience more mud but should be fun.

I have ran the rubicon a ton of times and would be willing to join and help out! I’m only free Thursday and fridays in the summer. I’m willing to go and get you to rubicon springs by Friday and then I’d pop out into Tahoe. Let me no!!

Let me know, myself/wife and my cousin who has a jeep also would be able to go along.

We are going to try and start the trail on Monday and be finished by Wednesday but have extra time if needed. We are bring our kiddo’s and most likely one other family with kids too. And we are always down to have others come along.

Just curious, any updates on this? That time frame is perfect.
Yeah my dad and I are going to be getting on the trail August 8th. And leaving August 11th. I think Brute is still joining us last I heard. I do have a reservation at rubicon springs for our 3 rigs the 9th and 10th. Not sure what their availability is at this point or what other camping is out there (first timer). But that's our plan to wheel camp and fish August 8-11

I'm going to try and make this trip with you all, if you don't mind?
I would be a first timer. No lockers. (Might change??)
Which end would you be starting from?

Hello. I found this forum when researching about the Rubicon. I am definitely up for a trip this summer to the trail and Lake Tahoe, I’ve been trying to get there for years. A lot of the talk on the Internet advises not to go by myself so I’m looking for a group I can join. Not sure about the value of paying to go with a jamboree type thing. I have a JKU Rubicon with 35s, winch, skid plates and all the goodies. I‘m from AZ so I’m used to driving on the rocks.

just wanted to throw the latest update out there
My dad and I will be starting the trail next monday the 8th from loon lake. We are coming in from Auburn, CA (sacramento side) so probably not a super early start since we have about a 2 hour drive to get there.
depending on how the start of the trail goes we will most likely stay the first night by spider lake / little sluice area. or if things are going well we might push to buck island lake but we arent in a rush.
We currently have a reservation at rubicon springs for 2 nights on the 9th and 10th for 3 rigs and Brute is unable to make the trip out this time so if anyone is on the trail and needs a place to stay 1 or 2 nights we have an open spot at main camp (they said VIP right up by the building on the phone when i confirmed but im a first timer so not 100% sure where thats at yet)
on Tuesday i want to spend some time at buck island for for fishing so we probably wont be rolling in to rubicon springs till well in the afternoon. Wednesday will most likely be a lazy day of fishing and maybe some hiking around the area then Thursday pack up and head home.
We will be in a green 2dr JK and a red 4dr JK, if anyone is on the trail next week we will see ya out there!

Well I’m in Bakersfield right now going to do the Jeepers Jamboree this weekend. Then a few days around Tahoe wheeling if my ride doesn’t get messed up on the Rubicon. Unfortunately I won’t be able to meet up with your group since I have to get back to work. Hit me up if you are interested meeting up in AZ or UT during the winter.
