Rollover video

Caught the Bug
Just watched the Teraflex roll in the other thread and was curious if there is an in cab video from Mel's KOH roll? Would like to see it from his perspective.

You know we did not have a GoPro camera anywhere on or in the race car. Kind of wish we did, all I truly remember seeing from the co-driver seat was the approach to the rock ledge, I knew we had drifted too far left, I was thinking Mel's approach was a tad bit fast but nothing I could control anyway, then I saw the sky, then dirt filled the cab, then I saw the crowd and then we went back up and over using the right line the second time. It was all pretty seamless.

I saw you had also asked in the other thread about damage to EVO1. Here is the driver's side just as the run was over.

I figured there'd be more damage than that. Pretty good to flop and roll that hard and only end up with that little of damage.

That's a well built cage, what is hanging underneath toward the rear?

That would be the rear driveshaft. After recovering from the rollover, we still had to go up and over a small ridge almost immediately after getting over that rock ledge we had flopped on. Once you were over the top of the ridge, the course drop very steeply into another short wash with a 90 degree left turn at the bottom, once you made the left turn you were looking at maybe 50-100yds sprint to the finish line. Just before making that left turn into the wash, a huge rock/boulder broke loose from the decent off the ridge and rolled underneath EVO1 and separated the slip yoke from the driveshaft. The driveshaft I believe was just simply put back together, cannot remember for sure since I was pulling the driver's seat out of EVO1 for the cage repair and then prepping the stock class EVO TJ for the race on Thursday. Mel bought the rights to a badass full video from a guy who was filming in the perfect spot with a $10,000+ HD camera that shows us flying up through the wash leading into the ledge, the complete roll into the second attack of the ledge, and then up and over to the finish line which shows the driveshaft separating.

That really needs to be a poster.
