Removing and replacing rearview mirror

Has anybody remover their rearview mirror? I'd like to replace it with a monitor and hook it up to a camera since my tire blocks the use of it. It's only good for the map lights and watching passengers in the back pick their nose. Also could I use the existing wiring to tap into to power a monitor?

I think the member Trail Bud has done this as well as others. Shouldn't be a problem for you but, I don't know if you can tap into the power.

I removed my rearview mirror and I have a camera and monitor to install ... but haven’t installed it yet. :crazyeyes:
But when I do, I plan to power it directly to the battery.

Mcpuck, how did you remove it?

Unscrewed the set screw on the bottom and slide it up. It should slide right off but don't use too much pressure.
