Regearing

Well, I have been pondering what I really want from this Jeep. I know my wife and I want to go trail riding, but it is also my everyday driver. And we have both agree that we will be broke the next couple years to accomplish what we want for this jeep.

Wife already mentioned getting a second jeep, but she said this time a Rubicon JT more than likely. I won't even get out of the hole now. LOL
Then don’t do anything to that one and get the rubicon.

If you think you'll run 37's some day, this ^^^ is sound advice. 4.88 is as high as I would go though as anything higher will leave your front pinion being really small. As in, I would not go bigger than 37.
As long as the stock axles will handle it, it is on the table. We halted the quick cheap buys and are now planning out what we are wanting from this rig. About to order the rock rails and some other DIY installs.

Then after that the tires, wheels, lift, and regear will take place.

I have been driving JLUR for 80K miles on 37’s with OEM 4:10 gears. Downside is you do lose 8th gear but It did not bother me at all. The only reason I regeared to 4:88 is because my rear locker got fried somehow. Paid $2600 on the east coast. All in. It does make a difference though.

I have a 2018 jlu sport. I’m looking to regear. any trust worthy shop recommendations in San Bernardino area?
As Mentioned, 4.56 is what you will want and if you do plan on 37's, 4.88. Not sure if I missed it but depending on your current gear ratio in the sport, you may also need a new front carrier due to the case brake going to a thick gear, just keep that in mind. A new open case will run you around $130.

Thank you everyone for all of the kind words and referrals! You all are awesome!

For clarification on our pricing, we charge $1,820.00 in labor for front and rear with master install kits. This also includes a 500 mile break in inspection and oil change. A full gear package in parts will run $1,095.99 +tax. So roughly $2,915.99 out the door.

What is there to do around your neck of the woods if we bring this to ya?

LOL

Don’t say the ‘G’ word when you’re in California. Do what you need to but be quiet about it.

Lots of stuff to do and see on the way there. Vegas, Death Valley, Sequoia National Forest and many other cool places. If you drive out to the coast there is also a lot to see. It all depends on how much time you have and your attitude.

Never been to California, never really have wanted to go.

But hey, its a state I could check off.

Wife Graduated HS in Kingman, AZ. I grew up in Phoenix. Moved to Oklahoma at 14 and have not been back there since.

I think it would make a good 2-3 week vacation.

Who knows, get the mods and upgrades done and go off-roading in places I would likely never get to again.

If you can look past the BS and idiots in the state, there are a lot of cool areas to go and visit for sure.

Right on. There is a lot of BS and idiots in every state that I have been to. Oklahoma is loaded with them. But also loaded with some of the nicest people (to strangers anyway).

We tend to keep to ourselves for the most part. We will ask locals about what there is to do around the area. Wife and I both love to get in the vehicle and explore. We tend to drive if our vacation is in the lower 48.
