REALTRUCK - SEMA 2024

For the better part of the last 20 years, Cindy and I have been covering a host of companies at SEMA that the owners were either personal friends of ours or that we at least had personal friends who worked for them. During that time, real innovation and ingenious ideas were being pursued and developed and it was always exciting to see them being released at this show. Sadly, most of these companies have since been swallowed up by a handful of mega umbrella corporations and most of our friends got replaced by peanut counting suits. Needless to say, RealTruck is one such mega corp and sadly, the brands they now control no longer have anything worth stopping to see. Pretty much everything is the same bland bolt-on stuff that you can find just about anywhere on Amazon or the like.

Needless to say, this is the first year that I decided NOT to interview anyone there being that they really had nothing new to see but if you're interested, here are a few pics of the Jeeps that they did have on display.

It’s truly sad and unfortunate. And from the pics, they haven’t done much of anything.
I don't think they've done anything at all. Pretty much everything I saw was rehashed stuff from last year. The fastback hard top that they were showing then wasn't even here. Really disappointing.
Bummer for sure. That's one of the reasons this show is dying.
I agree and really, maybe for the industry as a whole. It is a big part of why we tried as hard as we could to look for new and smaller companies to feature in our videos this year.

I’m confused, no reason to get more info on that “hood scoop”? Really is a bummer tho, big companies can absolutely crush innovation, especially when they are more concerned about acquisition and bottom line, than driving innovation. All the simple, cheap, bolt on crap is what most people buy and in reality, like you said, can be found cheaper on Amazon direct from china. Fortunately there are still companies willing to drive the market fwd.

I would like to think it would benefit them to hear your sentiments, but the ones at the show probably already know these facts, and it wouldn’t make a difference.

The various owners and senior employees sold out to the umbrella corporation and cashed in. Then they quit and the umbrella they still know is on the beach.

What a good boy you are bob. I'll really be impressed if you figured that out all on your own. Although, I don't know of any employee that chose to sell or made out on the sweet side of the deal and it certainly doesn't change the fact that innovation is in short supply now.

The employees of start-up/small companies always hope for such pleasant outcomes, but it rarely happens. I have hoped for that stock option reward in lew of a generous paycheck, but the most I ever got was $8k. But two others I worked with got $25 million each, and another got $2 million.
