Ok so my comp. Says very low disc space and my son said get an external hard drive. Is this the way to go , its a laptop and old . It wouldn't let me work on the pics from the trip.

Remove some shit..... Windows needs at least 15 percent free disk space to defrag

I did remove some things I think alot of it is the Nikon program and the high res. Pics. I thought if I could move some of the crap on simething else it would work faster.

If you take your pictures off it will free up a lot of space. I have an external strictly for hi res pics from my Nikon.

Or get a bigger hard drive. I just put a 750gig ib my laptop. Could have gone with a 1tb but would have to downgrade to a 5400rpm disk

That's the quick and dirty answer. External hard drive prices are pretty reasonable in the 500-750gb range.
