They tend to use what's already considered wastewater and during the cooling cycles there is some evaporation which I'm guessing concentrates the nitrate levels so when they dump it back out and it gets reused, the nitrate levels are much higher and get absorbed into all of the water facilities.
They're going to have to figure out a way to filter out the nitrate
Sure I get that with the evaporative cooling systems but most use potable water as the source. The nitrate levels must already be elevated in it

I did some searching and they use farm water in that area then dump it back out to be reused, so yeah, nitrates are already elevated
