It’s a shitty little town near a Marine Corps base, yes.
Used to be a quaint, quiet little place until Eric Holder deemed it one of his too White cities. The street I lived on had 17 empty houses, then almost miraculously, seemingly overnight, every house was full of a demographic that had never even considered 29 Palms, nor our neighborhood especially, as a place they would live.
The Goddamned incessant boom wickey scratch emanating from every vehicle and every house nonstop drove us to buy on the outskirts of town. Ended up being a blessing in disguise as our closest neighbor on our side of the road was over a mile away, and right out of our front gate was 1,000’s of acres of BLM land. And the kicker was the house we were forced out of sold for $265K that we paid $69K for. Icing on the cake was the new house, on land, for $130K sold for $300K when we moved to the shithole that is the Central Valley.
Going to Nevada in a couple of weeks to see if there’s anything around the Carson City area that we can afford. Have $150K equity in one of the two houses we own here so hopefully something works out. Gotta make the break from California.
