Rampage or Bestop Soft top

As I stated earlier in this thread I have the Bestop Trektop NX Twill and absolutely love it.......I went to Jeep Beach and while there I looked for the Rampage top and while not surprising there were very few Jeeps with them.....the majority of JKs we're sporting Bestops.......I did ask one owner why he went with the Rampage and he said the storage of the windows in the rear of the top was a feature that appealed to him and he also said the price was within his budget at the time.....he also said he wasn't a big fan of the straps but he's learned to accept it.....

"I love my TrekTop NX and how easily it turns into a bikini top. Yes storage of the windows can be a pain but I just deal with it."

Will.....I read this and agreed with you on it.....the storage of the windows is somewhat a PITA......there isn't a storage place for the windows especially if the weather changes you would want them available to put back on in a pinch........now.....I was just thinking.....I have my SpiderWebShade on under my Trektop.......I'm going to see if there is enough room to fit my sides under my Trektop on top of my SpiderWebShade....I have some soft hospital blankets to wrap them in to protect them from me scratching the windows.....If they fit then we may have a fix........pulling my rig into the vacant bay of the station.......I'll be back with the answer and pics if it works.....

Not a bad idea......I DIY'd my own shade. I could probably use same material and add to the top to sandwich Windows in.

I keep my trektop nx windows in a bestop saddle bag. One on each side. I roll the rear up with the trektop and keep it in the trunk area. This way I can put in on in a pinch. I have used my spiderweb shade and now the trek armor shade under the trektop with no issues.

Here you can see the saddle bags, and in the back. You can see the safari portion of the trektop rolled up.

Well I tried it and they all fit even the tailgate bar as well......Here are some initial "see if it fits" pics

Everything slid under the rear bow on top of the SpiderWebShade

A side shot to show how much space it takes up (very minimal) I'm 6'0" and I still had head room sitting in the rear on either side...

All packed up with windows wrapped individually in semi-heavy hospital blankets and the tailgate bar rolled in a big towel.....can't really tell they are back there.....

I didn't read the entire thread, but if you're happy with your top I'd go to a local seamstress and see if she can sew you in a new heavy duty zipper

I was in the market for half doors like your rig, which is coming along quite nicely I might add. Been following your build and really digging your rig Joe. Until this happened. FYI, for anyone with zipper problems.....the dohickie thingamajigger that connects the zippers together had spread out over time so I used a pair of pliers and squeezed it down and it managed to fix my problem....for now.

If you need a new zipper pull go to a local boat canvas shop and pick one up. Then on the side it is permanently on at the end ct in between the teeth enough to slide the new slide on. Using a Bic lighter melt the fabric back together. WHATEVER YOU DO NOT USE A CIGAR TORCH. It gets way too hot. I melted a hole in my zipper. It is not bad enough to replace.

I love my trektop nx, I use a spiderweb shade with it. I keep a drivable emergency top in the back at all times in case I get stuck in the rain

I have been wanting one or those emergency tops too. How do you like? Can you drive at highway speeds with those?

Bumping the thread. I'm getting closer to new top. Anybody have info on how these tops have held up? Is the Rampage really that noisy? I have found the new tops I feel are pretty quiet ESPECIALLY comparing to the old CJ tops.

I need the header but because you can't get it separate I have to buy the top with the header so if some one wants to sell the just the top I can pay 250ish maybe more

Sorry I just had to put this here lol

I have recently installed a rampage top and a trektop and to me there is no contest. The quality and design of the bestop is far better. Which is why they make jeeps factory soft top. The fit and finish of the trektop was much more factory like. Plus you get the sunrider feature. As stated, the only down side is window storage... but you dont have those bra straps either. It would be an easy choice for me.
