1983 cj project i just help my buddy pick this up im gona help him get it running hasn't ran in 13 years .i notice the flywheel cover is missing. I can see the teeth that shouldn't be am i correct?

It's not the end of the world. But it does limit what you can do. Don't get too much dirt in there.
