yea doesnt hurt. the first time i did my grill i went thru 1 1/4 cans for 5 coats. they were light coats tho. When i peeled it and resprayed it a few weeks ago i used 2 1/2 cans for 5 REALLY heavy coats.

edit - also watch some of their youtube videos on how to properly apply the dip when spraying. youtube "dipyourcar"

Love plastidip....truly a fantastic product, especially for jeeps. Had it on for 2 years (before trading it in, which was great because the dealer wanted the stock color back) through mud, sand, NJ rockchipping gravel, caked on calcium chloride, NYC salt, and the paint underneath was FLAWLESS. For the front grill, put on A LOT of coats so that it does a great job of protecting paint against rockchips. I generally plastidip things 5 coats or so but the grill I did 12.

This is when I peeled it off after 2 years....notice the flawless paint....

Just made wife have a mild heartattack , she walked in about halfway thru first coat. Didn't tell her it would come off. 😁

I tested before i did mine to make sure it would still peel off. I got the white Plasti Dip and had Sherwin Williams mix a can that was bit darker than Gecko Green and put coats on over the Plasti it makes it a little tougher to peel but i like it.

plasti dip works well but honestly its better to have it painted, mine is flat black and to get the bugs off i just use rubbing alcohol leaves clean flat finish

Just clean good with alcohol. I've had mine plasti dipped for 6 months and rubbed branches and scrubbed bugs off with no problem. The trick is on applying it right. Couple mist costs followed with several thicker coats

I think I am going to give the plasti dip a whirl. I saw a YouTube video where the guy was cleaning his grill with windex.
It has alcohol, so I don't see why that wouldn't work, although I also use straight simple green.

Soap and water for prep. No issues at all. To echo the others, applying in multiple thin coats followed by heavier coats is the key. Be patient.
