Apparently Arizona was really optimistic that the federal aid package would arrive quickly, so they stopped maintaining the highways (at all). But that infrastructure money is taking forever to arrive. Meanwhile, I now see 8" deep potholes on highways which were once a joy to drive.

What about all the tax money they collect from fuel and others that is budgeted to cover this? They just don’t want to spend that?

The new governor sat on the money (???), but now some money has been released for road repair. But the numbers sound very small compared with what the federal government plans to spend on "infrastructure".
 
What really pisses me off is seeing people just throw shit out their car window - like full blown trash left over from whatever fast food joint you just finished. Been seeing more and more of this lately and almost always, from cars with California plates. I wish I could throw them out the window!

It blows me away that people think this is ok. I just don't get it. Also didn't realize California was still around.

Couldn't be truer. Not only did this fatass Karen cut me off in her Kia Niro yesterday, she proceeded to drop what looked to be a gum or straw wrapper out her window. Surprised her arm fit between the glass and door sill honestly, this was maybe 30 yards from the beach too on the 101... crazy.

It seems that nothing has changed. I grew up near San Diego and there was a place we could pull out and eat on the way to the desert (maybe DirtHead knows the place, it was possibly just before Banner Grade).

We would always fill 3 paper shopping sacks with garbage from that spot. Each time it was as if we had done nothing!
