PEOPLE SUCK and that INCLUDES Off Roaders!!

Today on the trail, there are several designated primitive campsites. It has been dry for a while with some red flag warning days until we had a rainy couple of days. Then there are some dipshits who decide to leave a very hot smoldering fire… (my wife said that it was probably a Subawu, taco or 4Runner person 😂) . Luckily we came across it as the wind started to pick up!

Forgot one...

It's just a matter of time before all the cool places get shut down and thanks to jerk offs like this.

I am going to play Devil's Advocate on this one.
How did the authorities get this picture? Did the individual involved notify them?
It seems that the person turned himself/herself in to the authorities.
If so, it would seem that the only crime involved is stupidity.
1) Never wheel alone, always have others with you.
2) Always go prepared to get stuck,, bring a winch with you. Bring reovery gear.
3) Always check weather reports. Look for any dangerous conditions involving your intended exploration area.

I always do the above.
I built my rig with the idea that if I am out wheeling and get stuck, it's because I did something stupid. Not because my JEEP couldn't handle it.
I have all of the normal gear: ropes winch, shackles, d rings, communications radios and gps system. I also have a ground anchor at all times when we are out in the great, vast wilderness. After all you never know when or if you will need them.
This individual involved should definitely pay for the damages. And, believe it or not, we all have done stupid things in our lives and most of us will continue to be stupid. It is not illegal to be stupid. If it were, then 99% of the population would be serving life sentences for being Stupid Without a Permit.
Sorry for the late reply to this post. I just found it and I had to put my $.02 in on the subject.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and Be Happy. And Keep Wheeling.

Ummm, just a wild guess but maybe, just maybe someone saw this shit, took a pic with their phone and sent it to them.

That's about the dumbest thing I've heard in a while but hey, that's just me.

People like this just piss me the hell off! I hope they find who is responsible...

no, no one turned themselves in, it was discovered after the fact. Read the article

I did read the artical and it states that the offending person did notify the National Park Service and acknowledged his responsibility for the damages. He paid the $1030 fine and the NPS is exploring ways to restore the damaged historic piece.
I reiterate my previous statement that it all really began with his stupidity.
His action in contacting NPS and owning up his responsibility before he was apprehended by the authorities leads me to believe that he acted without thinking, but also without any malice.
EVIL IS ALWAYS STUPID. But STUPID IS NOT ALWAYS EVIL.
The FEDS now know who he is, and they will be looking at him first if there are any more incidents in the future.

You didn’t have to put in your two cents, you chose to. And we would be better off with a kit a dollar less.

I don't see any of the above in the current article text. Regardless, desecrating National Park land is a terrible thing to do. Desecrating nature or historical artifacts is a terrible thing to do. There is not much left which has not yet been damaged by idiots, unless it is still impossible to get there.

I don't know what article you read but I just re-read it again and saw NOTHING in regards to the "offending person" notifying the NPS or some kind of fine that he paid for it. What I did see is this...

LOL - okay, you are referring to the ORIGINAL article that was posted back in May of last year, this as opposed to all the other ones that have been added since including the one I just posted up yesterday. But, to that point, you really are a special kind of stupid for not catching the fact that the article was UPDATED almost a year later.

I can tell you for a fact that there were tons of people online who posted up screen shots of his rig and what he did BEFORE he deleted them from his social media accounts. As in, the fucker was trying to hide what he did and he got caught. Of course, it was only after he was busted that he "ultimately took responsibility" for wrecking a historic structure but made no mention about illegally driving out into the lake bed in the first place. But hey, you can believe whatever it is you want to believe.
