Padding for shackles?

Is there a trick to installing them both? I already tore one of the ballcocks trying to fit them both at the same time. Just put one on each shackle and they look crooked and were making noise as I drove. Left the isolators on until I can get the both ballcocks on. Might try some oil tomorrow to see if I can slip the second one on.

BTW, only $1.76 at Lowes.

You can try the lube it will most likely work, but also your tabs may just be to thick to fit them in there.

Think about how hard it is to get them on there now. Now imagine when your on the trail and need the d ring, are you going to want to fight to put them back on?

That's one reason why I don't have them. I bought the whole case from lowes but after realizing they are a pain in the ass I just left them in the garage.

Man! Ballcock, tabs being to thick, having to use oil or lube. Overlander, Strizzy,& MTG would go crazy with this!!

What are you doing to keep them from rattling? Thought about wrapping some tape around the bolt to see if that helped. I carry an extra d-ring when I need to use the strap.

I almost threw them away after a while.

I have never heard them rattle before so nothing.

X2. I have 2 on the front, and one in the receiver out back, and never hear anything... Or... I hear so much, that that extra little bit doesn't bother me.. One or the other

My ride- 2001 power wheel, 11" plastic tires, upgraded battery, boat sides, custom bumpers, tow hooks, new paint.

The d rings rattling used to drive me nuts, so i used some 3/4" wireloom about 2" long, and used it as a sleeve in between the d ring and the mount. place it inside the mount, then slide the d ring through it. if you need the d ring in a hurry, it was quick and easy to remove the wireloom.

No need to overreact. :rolleyes2:

I come here to get advice and learn from guys that have been doing this a lot longer than the six months I've been doing it.

I am pretty sure he was referring to the number of sexual jokes they could make with all that!

Took the ballcocks and isolators out and took it out for a ride. No noise or rattle that I can hear. Going to leave it like that.

Again, thanks.

Seems like you got it figured out but for the heck of it I posted a pic of what I did. Just went to walmart and bought a sheet of velcro for $3.99 and placed it as seen in the pics. No more rattles!!
