Outfitting the jku for camping; what's needed?

For a cooler, if you want a powered one, the ARB is the way to go.

If you want a classic cooler that can last you up to 10 days depending on the temperature, Engel is the way to go. Freeze a bunch of 1g jugs of drinking water before the trip, and as they melt you have free drinking water... one thing to keep in mind though is with the Engel you wont have that drinking water accessible till probably day 3 because its so well insulated. They are spendy at almost $400 for a 74qt size, but probably one of the best old school coolers out there.

fire extinguisher or 2, lighting, weather radio, wag bags or biffy bags
bag of rice, never know when you'll need to dry and electronic device...
tampons - they're small, portable, great in case of deep cuts and for fire starting in emergency.
flint striker..i like the EXOTAC

A fresh tube of superglue is small and had numerous uses as well... you can fix all types of critical stuff...

Like deep wounds. Cut myself pretty bad while backpacking a used it to glue the wound back together. Also a pack of iodine disinfectant.

baby wipes are a must too. For those days when you just feel funky a quick wipe down with a baby wipe makes you feel a lot better. I used them in Afghanistan. Also to save on actual meal preparations get you some MRE's. Serves two purposes quick and easy meal and plugs you up for a couple of days. Just do not eat the gum.

Come with matches, and little tp rolls too that work pretty good for fires in a pinch. Not so great for actual TP

One way to get more room iin your cooler is to take prepackaged items you purchase....say breakfast sausage, oh I love Jimmy Deans. Sorry, anyway is to take them out cardboard package keep them in the inner package or in ziploc. Steak, hamburger I'd put in ziploc bag with seasoning and leave the styrofoam and cardboard containers at home.:thumb:
