One ARB w/ Hydro ram assist, or Both lockers and no steering assist?

Ok so after finding out about Dynatracs Trail Leader package I might be able to pull off everything all at once[emoji2]. I called to find out about upgrading to 35 spline front, and was told that it isn't worth it because the outers are only 32 spline. Does anyone have any input, agree/disagree with that logic? Just making sure that I make this a one and done thing. Thanks.

I believe that's accurate. I also believe the only way you can do 35 splines in the front is by going with rcv shafts through Dynatrac. I could be wrong but pretty sure that's what they told me.
you can get a g2 gold in 35 spline but they don't fit quite right with the pr44, that was my original order, but ended up having to go RCVs because of fitment. from what I learned the only 35 spline shaft made to fit the pr44 correctly is the RCV.

according to Wes at Trail Jeeps he said they don't quite seat in all the way, also said that they "should be ok" but was recommending I use the RCVs. now at first I took this with a grain of salt as if he was just pushing them to make a bit more money and didn't want the RCVs mainly due to cost and things I have read, but that's what I ended up with. at the end of our convo the cost was a non factor due to the deal he gave me so I was happy in the end. I just wanted to make sure I had a good axle that was going to no cause me fitment issues. granted Neil seems to be doing just fine so doubt u can honestly go wrong either way.

I hope that he was wrong for Neil's sake. Ultimately if I can get the weak link outside of the axle tube that is what I want. I am a little hesitant on the RCVs because I fear they might be too strong. I really don't want my Ring gear to be the weak link in the equation.

This is a maybe a thread worth looking at and here's a quote from that thread from a member asking similar questions as you:

I found the quote from Dynatrac about 35 spline shafts, this quote was from 2010 and may not be current. This quote has me questioning the added expense of 35 spline and the fact that 35 spline spares would be much harder to find than 30 spline.

"Currently, the only axle offering (retaining stock outers) is RCV. The 35 spline axle shaft is only 35 spline diameter for the about last 6". The balance is the same as a 30 spline shaft. The CV portion is the same as a 44 and the outer is still the standard 32 spline RCV shaft. So the question here is - What are we gaining? We're gaining a great locker that will fit to replace the factory Rubi locker. The RCV axles are also a great addition. Are we getting a true 35 spine system..no way." - Dynatrac
 
Just throwing out my $.02 but I would get to the root of the steering issue before I decide to add on some hydro assist. If you have already killed 2 boxes that, to me would be indicative of a different problem elsewhere in the system.

for me my driveshaft UJ is the weak link as its only a 1310, but I'm only running 35s..when i get 37s I'll upgrade to 1350s and then maybe my ring gear will be the weak point but I guess that's the price you pay when still running a 44 size axle with a shorter gear. I'd still recommend a u joint style axle shaft and maybe a 30 spline arb will be enough in the front if your concerned about the g2 35 spline

I know the problem is the gear box. It has gone through 2 pumps. The entire system will be replaced with the PSC kit pump, box, hoses, and ram.

good to know, I really didn't research the g2s that much after I made my decision. the next question is what is "better" and more appropriate for your set up, a 30 or 35 spline locker.

I wonder what if any are the common brakes on the RCV. I guess it is possible that the outer shaft could brake first being that it is only 32 spline. Problem being it's so short that it should be able to withstand more rotational force.

I'd have to look back but I believe a lot of complaints were twisting of splines, and the actually CV joint going bad. not necessarily breaks. but I think overall the biggest concern was price and customer service. not necessarily promoting them but I've been very happy with mine, but also don't beat them to death every weekend

Thanks. I have been opposed to them from the beginning, but admittedly haven't done much research on them. I will have to give these a fair look I guess. Seems like we are both going for a very similar build too.

Not so much a break but the most ANNOYING thing about RCV's is that they start to snap and pop loudly if you play hard enough on them. Fanboys will never admit to it but I see/hear it all the time. Moochie and RanchoRubi here on the forum both have them and can verify as much. Of course, RCV will tell you this is normal and if you want it fixed, you will have to pay for it. The other problem is that like any shaft, their splines can and will twist with hard play only, contrary to their best thing since sliced bread warranty that all the fanboys will try to sell you on, they won't warranty this. This is all fine and dandy except for the $400 premium you have to pay for them.

Agreed.
I have friends that run them and one of them sounds like an lunchbox locker popping like crazy every time he turns. It's annoying when I'm close to him couldn't imagine it being in my jeep.

LOL!! Glad to hear I'm not the only one who finds it annoying. When Cindy and I are out filming, it always sounds like something is about to break. :crazyeyes:
