NorCal/CenCal Snow Day - The info

I just got off the phone with Jeff from the forest department and he's for the run but he has to go through his supervisor. I'll post once I get more information.

Ok well that's a no from the top. Well if anyone is interested we can see about Bold mtn but it might be a drive for a good amount of you. I will see about other area's this week for the north. I will If not hope to run with you guys soon.

Are you referring to Bald Mtn or Bold mtn?

I think that Whiskey Ridge snowmobile area is open year round to 4x4's too, but I would call the Bass lake ranger station to verify.

options :) ideas….

Bald Mountain is open but requires a $50 per vehicle permit (lasts 2 years). It is about an 4 hr 45 min drive for those of us who live north (chico area) and about a 3 hr drive for san jose folks :)

Bear Valley Loop (located in Tahoe national forest) is also open it starts and ends at the bear valley campground and has obstacles that can be taken on or passed depending on rigs. It is about 3 hrs from north (chico) and 4 hrs from San Jose area. There are a lot of other trails in the Tahoe National Forest that are open. I have a call into the rangers to see which have the possibility of closing due to snow and which will stay open.

I have not personally been on either trail so if you have please speak up :) Hope we can find something this week and get in touch with the appropriate forest service and get it locked down!!! We still want to see it work out!

To clarify. It's not a permit to run bald mtn. It's a Sierra National Forest permit for all OHV that want to run the trails in the forest.

Not too sure this applies to on road licensed vehicles.

Yeah for regular on road vehicles (most jeeps) you annual state registration covers the fee. The $50 fee is only for people that want to take their quads, side by sides, etc.

I've been to bald twice in the last month or so. The trail itself is not all that challenging but there are plenty of fun obstacles that are located along the route. You also drive on pavement nearly all the way to the trailhead so you're not spending a bunch of time on Forest service roads.

Pm me the next time you run it. I will roll out with you. It's a great day getaway trail.

Not sure on everyones plans, locations, etc but pending any issues with closures, maintenance, weather :cheesy: MagellanJenn and I are planning a quick run through the rubicon next Friday evening through Sunday evening (1/24-1/26) if anyone would like to meet up and join us we would love to get a few other rigs together if possible. Just trying to gauge interest, cheers! :thumb:
