Next Generation JL for JAGS

I pretty much have forgotten what “mods” are let alone a build thread. And even longer since I’ve needed to take a wrench to the jeep for anything.

That said, my batteries finally went. So I remembered Eddie’s great video about the aux and main battery swap. So I got a aux battery from auto zone (in stock vs my oriellys was a special order). I got an upgraded interstate battery from Costco. Good warranty and great price.

I used Eddie’s instructions. The only variation is I decided to pull the fendor vs mess with the electronics. If you know my wrenching skills, this was a smart move.

Everything went super smooth. Which for me is saying something. I did break a few fender clips but had extra on hand as that was likely to happen.

All in all took me about an hour and 45 min start to finish.

Thanks Eddie’s for the great write up!! ESPECIALLY the E torx mention. Not a single other vid online mentioned this and I would have been SOL.

Here’s some pics, because otherwise it didn’t happen.

Well. A quick five years later and today I received the pink slip for my JL. Crazy how fast time flies.

Life has been pretty crazy the last five years.

The JL was how we moved our kids to their respective colleges last year. So while not all dirt, still many adventures and memories.

This pic happened to pop up. Is from 9 years ago, Cadillac Hill on the Rubicon Trail. My old JK saw a shit ton of wheeling fun!!! My JL has seen less wheeling, but lots of road trips, kids high school events and now trips to two different colleges.

Love this JK pic though! Epic Adventures!!

Big things are in the works. Started the ball rolling on finally building out the JL. Life has been pretty crazy since getting our JL back in 2018. Some good. Some not so good. But here we are some 5+ years later and I never would have thought that the delay would be this long. Sold our built up JK in 2020 and had every intention of quickly working on the JL.

Pretty much everything has been ordered up. Will be a few months in the making, but the excuses (reasons) to put this off any longer are behind us. BIG shout out to Jeremy at Disciple for spending hrs via text and calls getting things dialed in!!!! Super helpful and made sure I got what I needed. Order confirmations last night. Credit card companies may be sending fraud alerts. Ha ha.

Got some prep to do on the Jeep and some parts will need powder coat, etc. So now the games begin till I drop the JL off at disciple sooner than later.

My JKs “name” was ENVY. No name for the JL yet, but I kind of feel like I’m starting all over again. Maybe something will make sense as the build comes along.

Anyways, long enough update. Look forward to hitting the trails with old friends and making some new ones along the way. God knows we ain’t getting any younger.

Some pics to document the occasion.

Nice man! Excited to see what you have in the works!
Congrats Jason and glad we could help out! Excited to see your JL finally get some upgrades that you have been wanting to do for a very long time. I’m even more excited to get started on it!
Soooooo what did you order!?!
Awesome!! Looking forward to see what you go! đź‘Ť

Thank guys! I’ll post up more details soon. It’s pretty equivalent to my initial JK build, which treated me very well. Hard to pass up 15-20% off EVO.
