New Bestop eTop? - How much are you willing to spend?

Recently, I've been receiving emails regarding the new eTop from Bestop for the Jeep JL and even had a rep from Bestop come by the shop who clearly wanted us to push the new product and be an authorized installer for them.

So the question is, are you willing to spend $4,995.00 on a self folding soft top??

From my understanding, this is the same top that used to be owned by myTop back around 2022 and one that we had installed once. This top is is a full electric style top giving you the ability to fold it back and close it on the go by simply pressing a button. You also have the option for a Fastback (like the trektop) or a Squareback.

Here is a video by Bestop demonstrating the top.

Uh that would be a hard FUCK NO

  • Is this top worth the price?
The value would be based on labor versus cost. Personally I could manually put a top up or down a lot of times for that amount of money.

  • Should Jeep offer this as an options from the factory?
Yes. Someone will pay that.

  • Would you consider this top if it was cheaper?
Probably not, just because it’s not a big deal to do it manually and I actually consider that part of the Jeep experience.

I honestly don't like the look of the soft tops on the JL's compared to the rest of the Wranglers. They function great and are a breeze to put up & down with no zippers to totally piss you off, but they don't look Jeepy enough. I love the look of them on the JK,s with the bows & dips. looks classicly badass..

Nope, too expensive and too much hardware in an already limited space.

I’d still sell them if I were you- non-wheelers would love that convenience.
Maybe. They are a complete pain to install in my opinion. Not sure if they are worth the hassle.
I'll pass, but sell that shit cause there are plenty of people that will spend that kind of coin. Who knows it could lead into something else in the future.
There are definitely those out there that will gladly pay for this.
Cool but that’s money I could spend on other Jeep parts! Plus like everyone else said, it takes just a few minutes to do it manually
You would be surprised at how many people really buy into the whole "but its faster" concept.

As an installing dealer in Southern California, I'd say go for it. There are plenty of people there that would spend the coin for it. For no other reason but it's the newest, latest and greatest.

As for me personally, I have a Sunrider and it can't get any easier or faster, unless I'm doing 80+ then it probably would open even faster.

I’m guessing this is their way of selling people with regular jeeps that didn’t spring for that gay top Jeep sold as a factory option? I mean if it sells make it but this is the wrong place to ask if it’s cool. lol
