Need Help w/Rear Pinion Seal Replacement

Isn't that the truth! I remember the first time I did this years ago I about set my jeep on fire I was so angry trying to remove the damn thing. Finally had to get the impact as well and even it struggled there for a minute or two!

Nice write-up!

Thanks! I didn't quite want to set my rig on fire but it sure was maddening. If I somehow had the ability to get more leverage while laying on the ground...it still wouldn't have budged! Impact is definitely the way to go on that nut!

Checked local napa and no luck. Quadratech is listing Crowns for about half dealer prices and seeing as I need to change front and backs i may just goe that route.

Good to know. I think I paid roughly $28 for the seal.

Finally found the time to get my front 44 seal done a few weeks ago using the above info as well as : http://project-jk.com/jeep-jk-write...-front-1310-drive-shaft-installation-write-up

One I had the tools ready to go, (I ended up putting together a seal driver from some square tube and a 1350 yoke holder/breaker bar for the tightening step) the job took just about an hour. Here's some pics for the heck of it in case they may help someone out.

Same here! About to have to do it again. I put the jeep in 4wd cranked the breaker bar up to the frame of the jeep then back the jeep up about 2 feet.... Spun the nut right off
