MT/R Vs. Trailgrappler MT

I'm stuck between 35 inch MT/R's or Nitto TG MT's. Any pros and cons to consider? I can get them for a nearly identical price.

I ran MT/R K's before switching back to the Nitto brand. The Goodyear's have incredibly thin sidewalls, are extremely difficult to balance and perform about average in all the offroad environments. However, the thin sidewalls and balancing issues overshadow any offroad positives. The Nittos (all tire choices, not just Trail Grapplers) have one of the strongest sidewalls in the offroad market, every set I have owned (like most people) typically can be mounted on a rim and then driven. No need to balance. The performance offroad of the Trail Grappler is race proven, it was modeled after the King of Hammers Spec race tire (known as 'K' specs). The only differences between the race tire and the M/T is the really soft race rubber and the larger sidewall lugs on the K spec. The Trail Grappler has quickly become the all around favorite 'do it all' tire on road and off road. It's as quiet of a tire on road and wears as well, if not better, than the MT/R K's. I have yet to meet anyone who switched to a Nitto tire and was not immediately amazed at how much better a tire it is than what they were running.

GCM 2 nailed it. I've run MT/R's with Kevlar and found them to be the worst tires I've even run. They are difficult to balance, their directional like tread caused them to track funny, they had a rubberiness on the rocks that made them unpredictable and most of all, they had really thin sidewalls. I would highly recommend the Trail Grapplers.

I have nittos after doing a lot of research my neighbor had goodyear's and last year at a run we did he punctured to tires same run and both were sidewalls and I was still on my stock tires he had 35's that he had just bought earlier that year he was soo pissed now he has nitto's also lol

At the risk of hijacking this thread, how does the Nitto TG compare to the BFG M/T KM2s? I've never liked the GY MTRs....wear too fast, so I have been running the BFG M/Ts on my last three Jeeps. I'm stepping up to 37's now and debating between staying with KM2s or switching to the Nitto TGs. I do go to Moab 2-3 times a year, so need them to last.

Without question, the BFG MT KM2's will last a lot longer. If you put on a lot of pavement miles and need your tires to last, they might be the way to go. On the rocks, the Nitto Trail Grapplers will out perform the BFG's in sidewall strength and their sticky rubber will hook up a lot better.

Trail grapplers all the way brutha!

I know a guy who used to run the original MTR and loved them so he was excited when the new model came out. He now runs Trail Grapplers LOL

I ran the MTR's for a bit. Like Eddie and Greg said they track weird. They were ok on the rocks and decent in the mud. Since them I switched to the Mud Grapplers and have yet to had a problem with them. Nittos are the best tire

I am on the cusp of going 37s but definitely want an all terrain BC I am not as hardcore and can admit it

Would u still recommend the nittos but I guess the Terra grapplers? Other choices ate bfg a/t and general grabbers.

Sry for hijack

Oy problem is they are almost all on backorder from multiple vendors :(

I have run the Terra Grapplers on two different Ford F350 Super Duty trucks, and on one Land Rover Defender. It's definitely not the most serious off road tire in the tread department, but still looks fairly aggressive and it is more than capable of handling lots abuse. The sidewalls are tough, their tread wear is awesome and it is a very quiet tire. But like most Nittos, the Terra Grappler is heavy when compared to other similar tires from other mfg's. I would not hesitate to run them on my rig now if they came in 40" sizes.

Definitely! They basically said I am out of luck on 37 ATs for now unless I go pro comp which I know nothing about

There's a good selection...about 6-7 different brands ..seems every major mfr offers a version

Trail grapplers all the way! My JK is my DD so I needed something that will perform both on and off road. These were perfect for me. Very little noticeable noise below 75mph.

The trail grapplers vs the Terra grapplers even for a daily driver?

Yep! I've always wanted a set of mud terrains, and after doing several months of research I found that most people said the trail grapplers were the best way to go, and I completely agree. I haven't had any issue with them on road, they've been awesome in this year's insane amount of snow, and I love them off road. HOWEVER... I would imagine the terra grapplers are significantly lighter, so they will give you more MPGs and are probably better in the rain. But I wouldn't trade my trail grapplers for terra grapplers for anything! :)

Well. You learn something new every day. I had heard awhile back that the duratrac wasn't offered in a 37 so I assumed none of the ATs were.
