Now that EJS is over I wanted to provide a couple of recommendations for anyone who has never been to EJS but has wanted to go.
First off, stop procrastinating and go!
It’s a great time and Moab is an unbelievable place. You will enjoy the wheeling and the amazing amount of cool Jeeps, as well as various other 4x4’s. In addition the hiking, mountain biking and climbing in the area are amazing.
Lodging: from primitive camping to condos and everything in between. Make your lodging reservations EARLY. I book lodging a year out.
Make sure your Jeep is well maintained and equipped. It’s important that you know how to work everything on it to include recovery equipment. It’s amazing how many individuals don’t know their rig or how to use their recovery gear.
The simple truth is you don’t need a maxed out rig to have fun. A bone-stock Jeep is still a great time and there are trails of all levels of difficulty so don’t put off your trip because you don’t think your rig is ‘built’ enough.
If you go by yourself sign up for some organized EJS trails, you will meet fellow Jeepers and make friends that you can wheel with later in the week. Also the EJS/ Red Rock 4-Wheeler Trail guides are a great source of Moab history and can tell you all about the various trails.
The vendor show is interesting and a good half day or so break from the trail. Of course there is the vendor show raffle and those who are lucky can win som impressive prizes.
I had a great time this year and I am already counting down to EJS 2024.
