Moab EJS 2023

So it’s EJS once again. In preparation I have been spending some time looking over my Jeep and ensuring everything is as squared away as I can get it. I’m driving from Virginia to Moab. I take I-40 out due to the amount of infrastructure on that route. In addition I have family in Tennessee to visit and there is less chance of snow on I-40. In years past I drove hard and covered as many miles a day as I could, however this year I decided to take a little more time and see some sights on the way out.

After work I conducted a last check of all my gear, supplies and luggage. This pile of stuff does not include the tools, fluids, recovery gear, and ARB Fridge that are always in it. Thank God for an LT1, 10-speed and rear PR80….

While I have an android tablet with Gaia mapping on it I also carry old school backup maps.
Yes, I have an addiction to maps and atlases.

I had planned to pick up a couple of chairs at Buc-ee’s, however I also realized I forgot a camp table so I bought one of those too.

A fool and his money soon part….

Between the table and my chair I should have plenty of space to store drinks. 😉

As I drove toward Amarillo TX the wind picked up.

Damn, there were times when the wind blew so hard I had to accelerate to keep my speed at 70 going down hill! 😳

I fully believe the 60 mph gusts. I was crazy windy all the way to Albuquerque.

I have driven by Cadillac Ranch probably 30 times over the years so I decided to stop and check it out. And take a break from the wind.

I am clearly not sophisticated enough, cultured enough, or maybe drunk enough to understand this. 🤔

However I’m glad I stopped and stretched my legs.
you're supposed to take your own spray paint and add graffiti to it, looks like they got a somewhat of a clean slate basecoat.
