I’m sure there’s probably an opening at the office, they did just hire my buddies kid straight from academy. When I was a kid we were all told you had to start in Oakland or L.A. until you have enough seniority to transfer. I was in my second round of the hiring process when I got picked up by my department so I quit perusing it.

Yep we just got into Susanville. Took a detour to see the school. I saw the sign too and pointed it out. Lisa is really liking the area and so far no regrets. We're going to be taking care of admin stuff and house hunting this week.

It’s nuts what is now available to new guys. Offices that used to take 10+ years to get are now wide open.

Funny how people adjust to environments. It took my wife a year or so to decompress. When we built our house my wife was really apprehensive about living in a rural setting. Now you'd need dynamite to get her outta here. She was used to living in a neighborhood & I really had to do a sell job. But we did it because we wanted the kids to grow up in this kind of environment & be able to have the horses, etc. There's a kind of confidence you can see in them they gained by having chores & having to do some manual labor. Maybe she'll come around to giving a rural setting a go....

Lol, just the thought of having to deal with an HOA gives me hives....

Haha yeah. If we rent our place we'll stull have to deal with our HOA but they've really backed off after the new CA law went into affe t last year. Living in or just outside of a town with 17k people is going to be awesome. She's taking a liking to it already. Time to do some exploring today.

I've thought about renting my house but after seeing the damage and shit my neighbor went through to evict someone and my cousin in Utah deals with, I decided it wasn't worth it.
I'm going to have a freeloader living in my house it may as well be my daughter, at least she takes care of it... LOL
