longarmwj's Long Arm WJ

Just get some nice yukon chromoly shafts. You will save some coin and time.
Maybe so if it was a regular width axle. But being a custom width it would still have to be special ordered which would end up costing the same and taking the same amount of time. Plus with the RCVs I'll never have to worry about breaking a shaft, and if I do, it's covered 100% no questions asked, as many times as it breaks.

Awesome WJ!:thumb:
Thank you sir!!

Not always the case. Have heard some pretty bad stories about having issues with warranties.

That's incredibly interesting to me because the local shop only uses RCVs and nothing else. They have them in everything from daily drivers to full blown rock bouncers and not once has one broken. Actually I take that back. One time one broke on a YJ buggy and they sent one for free and overnighted it to them. I had mine for well over two years and they never ever missed a beat.

Got the spring perches finalized today. Super simple design. The upper is about as basic as you can get, just rebuilding the factory style spring seat essentially. The lower is set up with two separate pieces welded together in a corkscrew kinda fashion to keep the spring from unseating when I'm flexed out all the way. The bolt in the center is just to keep tension on the "spring sandwich" so it won't unscrew on itself and come flying out

And what good is a winch bumper if you don't use it to hold random heim joints, boxes, and tools lol

Well the RCVs showed up today
ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1434650236.574508.jpg
Also got the axle painted, getting ready for the shafts and steering

Now it's just a matter of getting everything in, head on, and the gears broken in. Should be ready middle of next week! Oh and this rolled in while I was up there. 60/70 combo, atlas, etc

Still waiting on the last couple parts, inner axle seal and spindles to be exact, before the front and of this thing can finally be done. In the meantime though, the LED bar is finally mounted, I just have to adjust the position of the mounts down some so they sit flush with the roofline

It is very bright though

Been a while since I've updated this. But the brake backing plate mounts were finally figured out

Also the Beadlocks showed up and got mounted up. Also the hub lockouts were finally installed.

I'm just waiting on the brake lines to show up. Had to get some custom extended ones because of how the factory ones were run. They ran through the spring but because of the way the lower mount is built they can't run through there anymore. Once I get those in, it's just a matter of getting the new head on, throwing a couple Wayalife decals on it, doing a 500 mile break in period, and it will be ready for the trail.

Well minus the head on the motor, everything is wrapped up. Head should go on tomorrow and it will be ready for a shakedown run.

On a side note, we can put you down for Windrock in October right!? :yup:

Put me down as a maybe! It all depends on my new work schedule for a promotion I hope to get. But if I can't make it to that I'll be at JeepFest and a few other events

Well the jeep is done, and everything is sorted out. We ended up using a TJ brake booster with a YJ master, and a ABS bypass. But I was able to take it out this weekend and test it out. Despite it being incredibly wet and sloppy, it performed admirably and it felt great to be back in the Wayalife. Speaking of which, I'll be ordering a couple decals this weekend!

The only damage to speak of was a busted tail light and slightly "modified" quarter panel. My rock sliders took the abuse thrown at them quite well also.

Nice to see another WJ in here. Sweet rig, I just read your whole thread. I plan on upgrading my Zone 4 to a Clayton Longarm 6 hopefully in the next year or so with a D60 in front. Time and money. I have neither right now.

Nice! Glad to see it out on the trails. Looks like it was a lot of fun. :yup:

About two weeks ago I was playing around on a local (legal) trail when a downed tree snug my brake line and entangled it in the driveshaft.

I had to use a friends JK as my brakes, and drive it a quarter of a mile off the trail to where the tow truck could come get me.

Between a full time job and getting a new job I just simply didn't have time to get around to it, so I let my buddy take care of it for me. Apparently sometime within the last 6 weeks I've driven hard enough to blow the front shocks out, so I've ordered some new Rancho 9000s for the front. Hoping to get a new warn winch and Evo fair lead for Christmas, but if not that will be my tax return gift to myself lol. Other then a flat tire (somehow I managed to wedge a shit load of bark in the bead on the back of the tire), it's driving and running perfectly. Hoping to have it out to the next Suds N Grub!

Great looking rig and build. Love seeing these built up. Those are very good looking beadlocks as well :thumb:
