Lifts

I was wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with 4 wheel parts? Was shopping with them for a lift and was going to have them do the install since I don’t have the time. They tried to tell me I need an entire steering system for an additional $1700. I think they’re full of it.

It really varies by shop, some 4WP locations have good techs and know how to do things, others are not awesome at all. Check with local jeepers that have had work done at your specific 4WP shop. I generally do the work myself, or go to a local trusted shop.

$1700 for new steering seems excessive, it depends on how much lift and what you are trying to accomplish.

I was only wanting to put a 2.5” lift. That way my 95 year old dad can still get in it. I actually think they started higher and when I told them to forget it and give me my deposit back he reworked the quote. I’m calling bs on them. I’m still a noob with the Jeep thing so I will have to reach out to local Clubs.

What size tires are you planning on running? And were they trying to sell you the other parts because they were worn out or were they saying that the parts were required for the lift?

Was thinking 35’s. They said worn out. The guy at the counter said the tech was worried about being able to align it. It drives straight, steers good and no death wobble. In fact the guy at the counter had the nerve to tell me they looked at a Jeep with 30k on it and they had to replace a lot of steering components on it as well. Made me feel like I was in a jiffy lube. Ha! I have an 08 Rubi with 90k.

4WP carry mostly shit products with minimum knowledge. If you ask them something outside their wheelhouse of crap they cant answer you. At least that is what I have come across at shows and local SoCal locations. Find a reputable shop in your area and get other opinions.
